Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: Why do people don’t play DnD anymore complain about every single new DnD release? Me: Maybe they secretly wish to be drawn back in. 9yo DM: Ha! Yeah right! They complain more than I do about gross food like black beans or cheese.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: I love elk, but why in the world do we need so many different Elk cards in Magic? Me: Good question. Why do you think? 9yo DM: Someone at WotC is a bad hunter and always wanted to shoot an elk but couldn’t?

Conversations with the 9yo DM: Me: Sorry son. There won’t be any Hobbit pre-con commander decks. 9yo DM: What?!? It would have been perfect. Five colors… battle of the five armies… five pre-con commander decks and an epic battle!!

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: I made up a new MtG mechanic… Songs! They are enchantments but you have to have a certain type of creature like dwarf or Halfling to activate the card. Me: I like it!! 9yo DM: Tom Bombadil’s song just stops the game for 20 minutes.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: I think songs are better if they have sword sounds in them. Me: How many sword songs do you know? 9yo DM: Just one. Simply Irresistible—which I think is written about a sword. Me: Really? 9yo DM: The proof is irrefutable.

“Verify your age” “Are you serious? Your parents won’t let you play a game where you gang up with your friends to slay demons because they think you are worshipping demons? The cover doesn’t even show a demon… it’s an efreet!”

"Verify your age" My first computer was a hand me down HyperDOS system, before we had a Windows machine years later, with Wolfenstein 3D, Lemmings, and Red Baron as the only games pre-installed. And those were the first 3 games I ever played on PC.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: Me: Are you ready to head to your friends’ house. 9yo DM: Who else will be there? Me: Other people. 9yo DM: NOOOO!!! Other people are my nemesis.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: Healers are a lot more fun to play in AD&D than 5e. Me: Why do you think? 9yo DM: The long rest kind of ruins their whole job. In 5e, healers are just there to bring you back from the brink of death.

I am working on a cartoon strip entitled “Brains” starring these two guys with a handful of guests based on the monsters from the AD&D Monster Manual. The wyrmling has suggested the names Waffles and Illy but he isn’t sold on them. Any suggestions.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: 🎵The balrog met the wizard at last. And a Gandalf said, “You shall not pass.” The bridge was broken — fate was cruel. The wizard’s last words were “Fly you fools!” 1/2

Spell of the Week from the Wyrmling. This spell creates a magic floating scimitar that you can control to fight your enemies. And it covers them with stinky nasty swamp water on a hit. Full details on our Patreon.

Spell of the week — sword of the swamp. This 2nd level spell creates a floating scimitar that attacks your enemies and splashes muddy swamp water in their faces.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: Why do you think people always say they love zines, but no one will actually buy them? Me: Money, time, awareness… 9yo DM: Its only $3 and it has a lot of cool pictures so it doesn’t take that long to read.

Conversations with the 9yo DM: 9yo DM: Why is there no real difference in DnD between bludgeoning and slashing damage? Me: What do you think? 9yo DM: Easier to play even if it isn’t as realistic. Me: Good answer. Would you change it? 9yo DM: Yep. I think every weapon should be unique.

The wyrmling never stops creating. The feat of the week is Master of the Sea. We would love to have you join our Patreon to get top tier DnD content from the mind of a child creator.

Feat of the Week — Master of the Sea — Your presence on the poop deck causes instant fear in anyone familiar with sailing. Your billowing cloak terrifies the enemy.

I came up with Redwyrm to be my nerdcore rapper name. I made my Twitter account to promote the music. Then my kid started playing DnD and he became the wyrmling and things went in a different direction. I do still plan to release the rest of the songs I have partially recorded.

Explain your @ I've had the same username everywhere since I was an edgy 12 year old who wanted their last name to be "night" (and now it's my Brand™️)

The Beholder wasn't adapted from mythology or fantasy fiction. It was created by a 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧 trying to challenge powerful D&D characters who had become very good at surviving everything else. That idea became one of D&D's most feared monsters. 🎥Watch the full deep-dive here: youtu.be/OR0TRnZgbx4
