Religion is politics of the unknown ☁️ The things you are liable to read 📖 in the Bible ain’t necessarily so 🔍 It’s a recipe for extremism 🇺🇸 A playbook for tyrants ✝️⚛️ I know we can do better✌️💙☮️ #exChristian #proChoice #woke #atheist ReligionIsPolitics.com

Netanyahu’s mistake was that he never said he loved Palestinians If he had promised to convert them to his religion then he could have killed as many as refused Christian conservatives would believe it was prophecy fulfilled and Christian liberals would believe all things work together for good

Christian nationalist pastor Joel Webbon calls for white people to recolonize African nations: "We're going to help you build a society and we're also going to catechize you and teach you Christ. And if you try to harm anyone, we'll kill you. But we love you." www.peoplefor.org/rightwingwat...

Whenever some man asks me what is a woman, I want to ask him if he’s seen Jurassic Park Does he know embryos start out female? Does he know, under the right conditions, he would have grown up with a woman’s body regardless of his mind or his chromosomes? What does he think a man is?

He promised to deport 11 million people This could not be done with any respect for human rights whatsoever Either you knew that would mean an inquisition, the third largest mass deportation in history, or you didn’t Either you cared or you didn’t You either voted for it or against it

Conservative US churches have passed resolutions restricting women from being pastors Women pastors point to a history of their work being erased and ignored all the way back to Jesus If Jesus didn’t want this to be confusing, either he didn’t know what he was doing, or his disciples didn’t either

Critics of Christian nationalists often point to their staggering level of biblical illiteracy I’m afraid this is actually according to design Pastors have been dumbing sermons down and down for hundreds of years The more scholarship there is in the seminary, the less there will be in the sermon

Rep. Lauren Boebert insists that public Christian worship events are necessary for America to experience revival: "I don't think that Jesus ever called for any Christian to pray only silently or to keep their faith hidden only in the prayer closet."

Researching the inquisition, I learned some facts about Constantine that I’m still reeling from He made it law that Romeo and Juliet should be burned for having premarital sex Laws like that are not made to be enforced equally Laws like that are only made to make examples

The biggest problem with the Catholic Church’s apologies for the inquisition is that they sainted the guys who did it

What the Iliad and Odyssey mean to conservatives is that they can go to someone else’s house, r*pe and murder them, blame the victims and call it civilization The Old Testament means the same thing The New Testament means they can be forgiven for it That’s what Athens hath to do with Jerusalem

Christians always teach that Christianity brought humane values to an inhumane Roman Empire Did you know, Constantine made it so that if a man had sex with a woman against her father’s wishes, he was to be burned, and if she let him, she was too? Did he get that idea from Athens or from Jerusalem?

Reading the Wikipedia article on the Inquisition is like reading a Texas-approved textbook about the American Civil War Each section says the inquisition has been greatly exaggerated but everything else it says about the inquisition shows that the truth is even worse than we can possibly imagine

I asked the internet which of Robert Ingersoll’s speeches were most popular at the time I expected to hear ‘Some Mistakes of Moses’ and ‘The Gods,’ because I think those two hold up the best today But at the time, his most popular speech was ‘The Ghosts’ Coming soon, highlights from ‘The Ghosts’

Whenever you argue with someone who denies the reality of climate change, the reason they don’t see it happening all around them is because they don’t relate themselves to the suffering of anyone less fortunate It’s essential to call that out We only get this one chance

My Bible college is currently roiled by an abuse scandal That is, by the scandal of its leaders systematically covering up abuse Whenever people object to this on the basis of Christianity, I am surprised Jesus himself said to forgive trespasses 70 x 7 What was he doing if not covering up abuse?

This story shows on its face why we cannot rely on churches for salvation Because churches are based on the idea that everyone outside the Church deserves a fate worse than death and that eventually everyone alive will agree on it Thank you @friendlyatheist.com substack.com/@friendlyath...

Anyone who believes in a God who is a serial killer will become one if you enable him Then the mere fact that he was enabled is all the evidence he will need that God chose him for such purpose As long as he lives, no defeat will be enough to prove that his God was not real and his cause was lost
