Hunting for Muses in the indie video game industry they[F]

I get the sentiment, but taken too far this leads to what I call "nostalgia fetishization" — intentionally doing things the "ye old" way out of blind faith to an aesthetic without understanding why it was done, how to do it well, and to the detriment of a game as it is in the present.

Gamers™, meanwhile, think every game where you shoot a gun has to have the same control scheme as call of duty, or else it's "dated" and "badly-designed." Gamers™ want "quality of life" features that strip out all the friction from the gameplay, because they think it was only there by mistake.

The problem with #genAI is that programmers draw a very important distinction between the technology itself and the financial bubble and creatives conflate them constantly. In a field like #gamedev where the two meet, arguments and friction ensue. It's frustrating -- how can we even bridge this gap?
