Peace - An ode to woodland

This woodland space, always my peaceful place
Sun filtering through, on gentle golden days
I walk, I breathe in the forest air, and feel alive
Feet moving in rhythm, unaware of passing time.
My thoughts quieten, time slows in endless calm
In mindful movement, then I rest, in nature's arms
Birds chirping, smell of damp earth, rustling leaves,
I stop, reach round tenderly, to hug a towering tree.
This grateful calm, and calming peace,
A peaceful rest, and a resting mind,
In mindful time, and timeless space,
In nature, woods, with trees and grace.

I spent a wonderful 10 days travelling around as a tourist in my homeland of Kerala in India. Kerala offers such a wide variety of experiences, with so many areas of natural beauty including mountains, forests, lakes, backwaters and beaches. It’s truly a paradise on earth…

These boats were used until the latter years of the last century for transporting cargo, and these were converted into Tourist boats once they were no longer in use from the 1980s onwards, once roads were better developed.

When the sun shines in warm summer glow,
A million tender roses grow
But it takes a special kind of bloom,
To blossom in the unforgiving snow.

It's easy enough to sparkle bright,
When things all seem to be going right
But when hardships come, with grief and gloom,
The rebellious rose shines through the night.

We completed the Tour du Mont Blanc, a trek up and down the French, Italian and Swiss Alps surrounding Mont Blanc. We trekked approx 170km (105 miles) in 10 consecutive days, with an elevation gain and loss of around 10,000m over the whole trek. A truly challenging but stunningly beautiful trek!

I completed the Yorkshire three peaks challenge yesterday, on the summer solstice day! The weather was dreadful, with the heat wave followed by thunderstorms, but we made it… The beautiful views of the Yorkshire dales kept us going. #Yorkshirethreepeaks #trekking #Yorkshiredales
