@writer.ia.net Why am I now required to create an account to use iA Writer on Windows? I already paid for the app. Been using it for a few years already. I never needed an account before.
At Apple, we know you love having your devices connect with each other. We made it possible for your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and MacBook to get together, elevating your work and data while surrounding you in your very own personal bubble. Introducing 🏳️⚧️ Applecule
Double the iPhone. Double the price. Fold in your wealth with iPhone Duo.
The Mac OS X 10.0 Public Beta from September 2000 didn’t have an Apple menu: the Apple icon was centred in the menu bar when there was available room and the system commands were with in the app menu’s commands.
I finally came out at work with my new name and my colleagues were fine with it. So grateful! 🏳️⚧️
Uh… I know this is going to upset some. Every time I visit Osaka, colleagues compliment my weight loss, and complain about themselves being fat. Then all the food I’m invited to go eat with them, lunch and dinner: burgers, pasta, pizza, ramen, soba, curry, beer. Like… I dunno how to tell you, but…
“A Day in the Life of an Enshittificator” by the Norwegian Consumer Council describes how a “shitmaker” is tasked into making the products and services terrible. It feels so real, it hurts! www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Up...
New Scrollerful 1.2.2 has better support for horizontal scroll animations. The docs site now has a demo with controls built in. What a time to be alive! remino.net/scrollerful/...
You thought shopping for AV cables and that one compatible USB-C cable was a damn challenge? That is NOTHING compared to shopping for women’s hair products. Fucking hell… But hey at least they do a damn good job when you find the right ones and use them correctly.
I’ll start handing out these business cards to people in disbelief when I come out to them.
Transporter pad caution sign in Star Trek III: “No smoking. Place feet in center of pad. Keep extremities within transporter field.” No smoking? haha… Well, the movie was released in the 80s after all. Same time when banging movie posters were hand-drawn!
How can someone have an invalid handle and still be on here? How can someone even tag her?
I am (not) a Web Developer. I am a Solutions Architect. After 30 years in tech, it’s time to adopt a new title that better reflects the breadth of my work across frontend and backend development, application architecture, and engineering leadership.
TIL about lnav and I’ve never seen logs so colourful before. It loads log files, detects their formats, lets you search with regex and SQL, add filters. Pre-compiled binaries available. Just downloaded it and ran it on my server and it’s so good at helping me viewing its logs. It’s fantastic!
I know @layer. I still don’t use it. I should. 😅
A thing we do with CSS @layer at CodePen is rather than thinking of it as a vertical stack, it's a two-layer thing with lots of components (thus "horizontal"). Layer the Custom Properties, don't layer the rest. It makes those custom properties very easy to override later. master.dev/blog/thinkin...
I may not be neutral about AI. But those creep-cam VR glasses? Those can right fuck off.
Introducing the new official home for shitposting at HEY WHERE FROM? International Corporation, “WTF?” You will like it. You have to.
Last year, I published dress.css v5. 👗👗👗👗👗 It’s a class-less baseline CSS. Browsers use defaults mostly decided in the 90s. So I explored what if they were decided today. Could have been a waste of time. But, no! Helped me kickstart many sites since then. Glad I made it!
I rewrote vidmod, my helper script for ffmpeg to do simple video edits, and made it modular using plugins. Also created something similar for images with the new imgmod using ImageMagick 7. Both vidmod v2 and imgmod are available in remutils as well as via my Homebrew cask homebrew-remino.
Internet: “You’re trans? No…” Me: *shows used syringes and broken hormone ampoules* Internet: “Nah that’s for diabetes…” Me: 🤨 *shows homelab with a Blåhaj on top* Internet: “Oh yeah you’re legit.” Me: *areyoukiddingme.jpg* Internet logic™ (Sadly, I don’t have the space for a proper server rack.)
When I have posts about tech stuff, sure, I’ll do an effort to put it up on every platform. When it’s a bit more personal, funny enough, I see to rotate between the platform of choice—sometimes it’s Twitter, then it’s Facebook, then it’s Bluesky…
HTML deprecated the de facto <marquee> tag a long time ago. Yet, browsers still support it—nobody suggested a 1:1 replacement. I vibe-coded Remarqueeble. Just replace <marquee> with <re-marquee>. npm install remarqueeble
Two major releases in one year? Hey Astro team, can you maybe chill a bit? Then again, Astro 6 was about cleanup, Astro 7 is for performance. It’s a lot: Vite 8, Rust compiler, faster Markdown, route caching, queued rendering, Live Collections, Fonts API, CSP API, request-pipeline control, etc.
Okay. So now we can show popovers using just HTML, but still no way to show a dialog as a modal without JavaScript. 🤨 developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

I generally don’t feel like complaining and being negative anymore, yes. But I think I can be forgiven for being not so happy at a seller passing for Toshiba on Amazon and selling me a 16 TB drive for 80,000 JPY they passed as new but was actually used for four years, right?
Finally came out to people on my old “legacy” Facebook account. So far, they are pretty supportive. And that’s a good thing. 🏳️⚧️
