I met with graduate students, deans, and financial aid experts to discuss the Trump administration’s efforts to limit access to graduate student loans. A financial aid officer summed it up: "It's directly impacting students...it's absolutely heartbreaking."

Portland's Central Eastside is full of innovative businesses and local favorites, including produce and food distributor Pacific Coast Fresh and the creative reuse store SCRAP. Thank you for the amazing visits!

Thank you to the FLIP Museum in Hillsboro for the visit and tour! Children's museums help kids foster essential social, creative, and learning skills and I'm grateful that we have FLIP in the community. I look forward to seeing them expand into Portland.

It was great to get an update on TV Highway’s safety improvements in Forest Grove! I secured federal funding for this important infrastructure project that's making it safer for pedestrians, drivers, and kids on their way to school.

It was an honor to join West Tuality Habitat for Humanity to cut the ribbon at Countryman Estates and help celebrate the completion of the first homes in this affordable housing development in Forest Grove. 🧵

Grocery costs are skyrocketing and kids need healthy meals year round, not just during the school year. I partnered with the City of Portland, Portland public schools, and Portland Parks and Recreation to serve summer meals to kids in SW Portland.

It’s another beautiful day in Beaverton!☀️ Mayor Lacey Beaty and I walked the Beaverton Loop to see how the project is continuing to improve safety and create business opportunities in the heart of the city. I’m grateful to have secured multiple rounds of funding for this project.

The mass shooting last night in Seattle is a tragedy that has become far too commonplace. I mourn with those who lost loved ones or were injured. Once again, thoughts and prayers are not enough. I will continue to advocate for policies that make communities safer and free from gun violence.

Seattle Center mass shooting leaves three dead, four injured, including toddler

One suspect was taken into custody immediately following the shooting, but police say they are still looking for at least one other suspect.

The Education Secretary says the Department shouldn't exist because it "doesn't educate a single student." Well, the Department of Agriculture doesn't grow crops and the Department of Transportation doesn't drive our buses or fly our airplanes, but no one is suggesting we get rid of them. 🤔

Sec. McMahon and Republicans: "Test scores have gone down since the Department of Education was established,” Some of my colleagues need a science lesson 🔬🧪: correlation ≠ causation.🧵

Living with grandparents or extended family and friends can provide children with the stability they need to thrive when their parents aren’t able to care for them. We must support these essential caregivers, who often face additional barriers. 🧵
