Today, I introduced the Governor’s Right to Inspect Act of 2026 to ensure governors can conduct oversight visits to immigration detention facilities and help safeguard the health, safety, and basic human rights of those in custody. Transparency and accountability are essential.
Thank you to Axios and Andrew Solender for having me on AM Live yesterday. It was a great conversation on the future of AI and expanding accessibility.

A constituent shared this photo of her son receiving his first school backpack at a community event my office hosted in 2023. Years later, she returned to our office for assistance and shared her gratitude for the support she received. Thank you for trusting us.

Families belong together. My amendment makes clear that HUD must continue serving mixed-status families, as Congress intended, and reject policies that would separate households or displace eligible residents. Housing stability and family unity must remain a priority.
Delaney Hall must be shut down. People are being detained in inhumane conditions, many of whom have never committed a crime. The abuse, neglect, and cruelty must end. Close Delaney Hall now.
This Gun Violence Awareness Month, we honor the lives lost to gun violence and stand with the families, survivors, and communities carrying its lasting impact. We must continue fighting for solutions that save lives. The time to act is now.
Happy Pride Month! This June, we celebrate the LGBTQI+ community, honor the progress made in the fight for equality, and recommit ourselves to building a future where everyone can live with dignity, safety, and pride. The work continues and so does my commitment to justice and inclusion for all.
Honored to join the Bronx Community College Class of 2026 Commencement Ceremony today and celebrate the hard work of our graduates. Congratulations to the next generation of leaders, changemakers, and visionaries!

Wishing a blessed Eid al-Adha to all across New York’s 13th district who celebrate!
Today, I visited the Delaney Hall Detention Facility for congressional oversight. Detainees have been on strike since last Friday, demanding humane conditions after reports of spoiled foods, freezing temperatures, and inadequate medical care. Every person deserved safety and basic human rights.
We are standing united and in solidarity to demand oversight and due process at Delaney Hall. Trump's ICE is rogue and out of control. The inhumane treatment and conditions the detainees are faced with are intolerable and unacceptable.
This Memorial Day, we honor not just the bravery of the fallen, but the lives they lived.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are reminded of the importance of affordable and accessible mental health care. As your voice in Congress, I will always advocate for more mental health resources for New Yorkers.

Every year, one lucky high schooler from every district across the country has their artwork selected to hang in the halls of Congress. As it's time is up, I wanted to show off the 2025 Congressional Art Competition winner for NY-13: "Let Lisa Breathe"
As we celebrate the 61st birthday of the Head Start program, it's important that we recognize the pathway to success it creates. As Republicans aim to cut funding every year for the program, I remain committed to ensuring kids in New York's 13th have access to such a vital educational program.
#HappyBDayHeadStart! On May 18, we celebrate 61 years of Head Start and more than 40 million children served. As America approaches its 250th anniversary, Head Start stands as one of our nation’s most impactful investments in opportunity. #61YearsOfHeadStart
While Donald Trump is making toasts and funneling $1 billion towards a ballroom, everyday Americans are struggling to make their money stretch further between paychecks. America deserves better than these ballroom Republicans.
Great breaking news! The House Appropriations Committee just adopted an amendment from @repespaillat.bsky.social that would stop the government from bypassing the courts to buy our online information from shady data brokers. This would be a needed safeguard against AI surveillance systems.

In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, Republicans are gutting programs that build up rural economies and protect American manufacturing. We know by now: Republicans never cared about the working class and middle class -- just kickbacks for billionaires.
Trump just admitted what we’ve known all along: he does not care that Americans can’t afford to live.
Trump on Iran War: Reporter: What extent are Americans’ financial situation motivating you to make a deal? Trump: Not even a little bit. I don't think about Americans’ financial situation
On top of alleviating food insecurity, food stamps help keep bodegas in urban communities and small businesses in rural communities afloat. Republicans are working to stop people from having access to food and the American Dream.

The Supreme Court has once again empowered states to systematically weaken the voting power of minority citizens. This conservative majority shows time and time again that political calculation shapes its jurisprudence.
NEWS: In a 6–3 decision, the Supreme Court has struck down Louisiana’s congressional map that added a second majority-Black district, ruling it unconstitutional as a racial gerrymander. The opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, narrows how the Voting Rights Act is interpreted moving forward.
Accountability isn’t optional. After refusing to testify, Stephen Miller and Tom Homan were called to answer for policies impacting millions. Rep. Delia Ramirez moved to subpoena them. CHC members on the House Homeland Security Committee are not backing down!
