I’m proud to have delivered nearly $12 million in federal funding to support school programs and educational projects in my district.

Today, I introduced the Governor’s Right to Inspect Act of 2026 to ensure governors can conduct oversight visits to immigration detention facilities and help safeguard the health, safety, and basic human rights of those in custody. Transparency and accountability are essential.

Families belong together. My amendment makes clear that HUD must continue serving mixed-status families, as Congress intended, and reject policies that would separate households or displace eligible residents. Housing stability and family unity must remain a priority.

Today, I visited the Delaney Hall Detention Facility for congressional oversight. Detainees have been on strike since last Friday, demanding humane conditions after reports of spoiled foods, freezing temperatures, and inadequate medical care. Every person deserved safety and basic human rights.

We are standing united and in solidarity to demand oversight and due process at Delaney Hall. Trump's ICE is rogue and out of control. The inhumane treatment and conditions the detainees are faced with are intolerable and unacceptable.

This Memorial Day, we honor not just the bravery of the fallen, but the lives they lived.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are reminded of the importance of affordable and accessible mental health care. As your voice in Congress, I will always advocate for more mental health resources for New Yorkers.
