Advocating for the issues you care most about helps inform my legislative decisions. Whether in Waterbury or in D.C., it is important that you make your voice heard. We met with ASPCA, Accountable for Health, and Alliance for American Leadership.

Grant Announcement: The Town of Southbury will receive nearly $105,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support recovery and repairs from the August 2024 storm.
I sent a letter requesting a meeting with the Acting Field Office Director of ICE. Many residents are traumatized after witnessing parents and neighbors being apprehended and have legitimate questions about due process and transparency.
Once again, House Republicans tried to slip the SAVE Act into a bill. I voted no on this resolution condemning socialism because I will not be fooled into disenfranchising voters. They will stop at nothing to block more Americans from the ballot box & distract from the real issues people care about
I voted for a Continuing Resolution that keeps the government funded through Dec. 11. This bipartisan CR does not provide any additional funding for ICE or CBP, stops a rule that discriminates against grant recipients and makes sure money appropriated by Congress goes where it is supposed to.
Universal child care is key to growing our economy. If parents feel their children are not safe, they cannot work or pursue a career. Strengthening federally funded investments in initiatives like Care 4 Kids is an important step toward helping families afford quality child care youtu.be/iazmzBYGpIs

With a weakened Dept of Ed, ensuring services required by IDEA so students with disabilities can find post secondary success has become even more challenging. Thank you to the constituents from Farmington & The Arc for sharing your stories. We must restore the Dept of Ed & finally fully fund IDEA
I stood with leaders in Danbury to address concerns about the presence of ICE in the city. People are scared, children are traumatized- & everyone, not just the immigrant community, is calling for transparency. Protecting the constitutional rights of every resident should not be a partisan issue
The Meriden Research Parkway Linear Trail is officially open🌳🦺🚲 Thanks to $3M of federal funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, this multiuse trail will provide pedestrians and cyclists (and pets!) a safe path to walk, bike, and play.
As we mourn Dolly Parton, we remember her talent was matched only by her dedication to philanthropy. I was so excited to bring funding for an Imagination Library, which provides free books to children up to age 5, to the city of New Britain. Rest in Peace, “Book Lady,” CT05 will always love you.
Balancing immigration enforcement and respect for the rule of law, while challenging the actions and enforcement tactics of Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a raging national debate. Unfortunately, Danbury, CT is facing the challenge encountered by so many communities around the country.
My office is aware of the elevated ICE presence in Danbury. I am in close communication with local and state officials. As this situation evolves, my team stands ready to assist, answer questions and support constituents in any way we can.
It’s that time again….Back-to-school week in #CT05! Sending all of our students, teachers, & staff best wishes for a successful academic year 📚 🌟
Another series of great meetings with constituents advocating for their priorities. We met with Partners in Health, International Hearing Society, Rare Disease Advocates, and Physical Therapy Advocates.
Good news from #Terryville My casework team recovered more than $35,000 in spousal benefits for Sandra from the Social Security Administration after she reached out for help. If you need help navigating a federal agency, call us at 860-223-8412☎️
🇵🇷Congratulations Frank Ramos Batista on being named Waterbury Puerto Rican Mayor for the Day. We were happy to join in celebrating Frank & present him with a proclamation recognizing his dedication to the local community.
I joined my GVPTF colleagues in condemning actions taken by the ATF that would undermine public safety, reduce accountability for Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), and make it easier for prohibited individuals to obtain firearms.
With @repdonbeyer, I am working to make government more transparent. Our bill, the Congressional Oversight & Agency Access Act, ensures Congress can uphold its constitutional duty of oversight without unnecessary obstruction. Learn more ➡️ https://bit.ly/4hCLbC1
Head Start is one of the best anti-poverty programs we have, offering high-quality care to our most vulnerable. Despite this fact the admin is proposing to gut the program. My bill aims to infuse federal funding into the program, expanding access for more families. hayes.house.gov/2026/8/hayes...
For a year, Morris residents have been forced to live without access to USPS services. I joined Senators Blumenthal and Murphy in sending a letter to Postmaster General Steiner seeking answers on the timeline of when services will finally be restored for our constituents. https://bit.ly/4qkdxn1
The One Big Beautiful Bill has blocked 1.5 million children from accessing food assistance and putting them at risk of missing out on free school meals this academic year. My legislation, the Restoring Food Security for American Families and Farmers Act, would repeal all H.R. 1 nutrition cuts.
