Honored to serve the hardworking families of Ohio’s 9th district. Longest-serving woman in history of Congress. Ranking Member on Energy & Water Appropriations. kaptur.house.gov

While Congresswoman Kaptur and the staffer injured continue to recover, she and her entire staff express their deep gratitude for the outpouring of affection and concern from people throughout Ohio, across the country, and around the globe.

This morning Congresswoman Kaptur was a passenger in a vehicle on her way to a church service when the car she was traveling in was struck. She is active, alert, and being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Led a letter alongside my bipartisan Great Lakes Task Force Co-Chairs Reps. Dingell, Joyce, and Huizenga to OMB Director Russell Vought and Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Adam Telle expressing deep concern with the halting of Brandon Road construction.

We must work with our continental neighbors to share expertise on forest management and wildfire response. Joint efforts and collaboration are necessary to make all our countries safer, healthier, and more resilient. North America belongs to all of us—no matter what side of the border one lives on.

This is terrible news for our Great Lakes. Invasive carp do not belong here. Ohio has as much at stake in this fight as any state in the Great Lakes basin—and so does every family that fishes, boats, or earns a living on Lake Erie and across our precious Freshwater Kingdom.

The recent episode endured by the Buttigieg family is a reminder to hold our loved ones tight. Political extremism and dangerous divisions among Americans are cause for serious reflection. Loving families should live free of bigotry. We must all come together to lower the political temperature.

Celebrated Cassy Dornbusch from Ottawa County, OH who was honored by the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools as the Outstanding Elementary Teacher. For 33 years, Cassy has been a reading specialist at Benton-Carol-Salem and a builder of futures. BCS Rocket futures are brighter because of you.

So proud to join students from the City of Toledo’s Urban Forestry Teen Tree Training Program to see all they have accomplished at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Workforce development for our young people must be a priority, and I’m thrilled to have delivered Millions in Federal funds for this effort.

Enjoyed returning to St. Ursula Academy earlier this year to recognize student athletes and celebrate young women for their achievements. Special recognition was lauded on the 22 members of the Dance Team, who once again prevailed as State of Ohio Champions, and took Silver, and Bronze at Nationals.

The President can’t erase the cost of his reckless war by changing how the deaths of 4 service members killed in action are counted. This bizarre effort to change the Iran War death count is shocking. Americans deserve transparency, not tricks and games when brave soldiers lives are lost.

The leaders of the House need to allow a return to regular order. We see the constant churn of failed Rule votes, and Appropriations bills hopelessly behind schedule. Now Congress is sent home again, for more time away, while we should be focused on passing the bills that are critical to our nation.

A productive visit to Henry County Hospital in Napoleon to discuss rural health care needs in our NW Ohio communities. Thanks to Hospital CEO Kristi Barnd for being a gracious host during our visit.

Our NW Ohio region is lucky to have countless educators who guide our young people and help them grow. One of these educators is Mr. Andre Cowell, a retired Toledo detective now teaching criminal justice at Washington Local School District’s Whitmer High School. Thank you Mr. Cowell, for all you do.

Great visit to Jacobs Farm in Napoleon, and J&J Poultry in Holgate. Thank you to Jim and John Jacobs for the hospitality and to Ohio Ecological Farm and Food Assoc and all others in attendance for the warm welcome. Great to see these organic family farming practices hard at work!

Devasting wildfires across the Mediterranean have forced 30,000 people to evacuate their homes, including many in Toledo, Spain. This tragedy follows weeks of extreme heatwaves and drought conditions. Please join me in praying for Toledo, Ohio’s sister city and the entire region.

This coming Monday, in the heart of our Great Lakes region, the iconic $6 Billion Gordie Howe Bridge between Windsor and Detroit will officially open. This magnificent suspension bridge built with Canadian financing and American Union muscle will usher in a new horizon for our Freshwater Kingdom.

Urged my colleagues to sign a discharge petition for the Major Richard Starr Act. Our veterans injured in the line of duty have given so much to our nation, and deserve a clean vote on this legislation to allow us to give something back to those who have given so much for all of us.

Wonderful evening at the Lebanese Ambassador’s Residence. Nice to meet and speak with President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon and discuss NW Ohio’s proud Lebanese-American diaspora, our history, and our shared priorities.

Reckless changes to the ACA by this Administration have ripped affordable health care coverage away from 2 million Americans. My home State of Ohio has been hit hardest—161,385 Ohioans dropped their coverage within the last year. Hardworking families simply cannot absorb skyrocketing premium costs.

On this day, 57 years ago, the Toledo Blade published the news of Ohioan Neil Armstrong landing on the moon and taking one giant leap for mankind. What a great reminder of our region’s legacy in flight! Thank you to a thoughtful constituent for sharing this historical newspaper cover image with us.

American hearts are filled with grief this week for the beloved families, colleagues, and friends of service members James Feehan, Isabella Gonzalez, and Michael Swinton who were killed in action in Iraq and Jordan. We pray for their families and for the strength and recovery of those wounded.

The war of choice in Iran is expanding again with renewed strikes on our troops in the region. There’s no strategy, no communication, no path to victory, and we have lost more American lives. At home we continue to feel the economic pain as gas and diesel prices are again sharply on the rise.

🧵 Today, the hearts of the American people again go out in grief and abiding gratitude to the beloved families, colleagues, and friends of 2 US soldiers killed in Jordan and to the loved ones and colleagues of the soldier now missing in action. 1/6

Justice delayed is justice denied. That couldn't be more true for thousands of honest, hardworking people and businesses I represent in NW Ohio who were wronged by the largest nuclear power corruption scandal in both American and Ohio history. It cost the public over $1 Billion.

Happy to meet with Rusty Goebel and Ohio Soybean Association members in Washington. Always have an open door to hear their concerns and meet with them as they advocate for Ohio ag priorities, to ensure our important policy issues are addressed. Thank you for bringing a bit of Ohio to Capitol Hill!
