This morning in Shreveport, another community woke up to a horror too many families in this country know all too well. Eight children were killed by gun violence, and tonight their parents are living through an unimaginable nightmare. We cannot keep accepting this as normal.

Speaker Johnson must immediately reconvene the House to vote on a war powers resolution. It’s beyond clear we are at war. The Speaker's legacy will be that he made Congress so irrelevant that a president can threaten to wipe out a civilization while Congress is on vacation.

The situation in the Middle East is grave and evolving rapidly. In response to US and Israeli strikes, Iran responded by attacking its Arab neighbors. That was certainly a choice. As regional partners remain on high alert, my thoughts are with the brave American service members in harm’s way.

I am formally requesting the Departments of Defense and State to fully brief Congress on the rapidly evolving situation in Iran. This is a serious moment that demands full transparency and congressional oversight.

There’s a lot of verbs and adjectives to describe the President’s speech. Unifying is not one of them.

I’m relieved that a federal judge has temporarily blocked the termination of TPS for Haitians. This ruling provides critical relief for roughly 350,000 Haitian TPS holders who faced losing their status today.

I voted no. Under Kristi Noem, FEMA is being gutted, ICE is over stepping its mandate, and the disaster-assistance backlog is exploding while Congress is left in the dark about where prior funding went. This is clear mismanagement, not underfunding.

It was an honor to welcome María Corina Machado to the United States Congress and reaffirm that America stands with the Venezuelan people in their fight for freedom. I am grateful for her time and look forward to a future meeting in a free and thriving Venezuela.

The arson attack on Beth Israel Congregation, the only synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, was an attack on religious freedom itself. Antisemitism is a scourge that must be confronted, not ignored. I stand with the Jewish community and the freedom of all to worship without fear.

As a member of the Judiciary Committee, I am hereby calling for Chairman Jordan (former chair of the Weaponization Committee, ironically) to open an immediate investigation into the DOJ’s inquiry of Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

The death of Renee Nicole Good is a tragedy and demands a full and independent investigation, followed by genuine accountability.

Allowing the ACA tax credits to expire put millions of Americans at risk of losing healthcare. That’s why House Democrats just passed a bipartisan bill to restore those credits. Now it’s time for the Senate to act. No family should lose healthcare because of Washington inaction.

Five years ago, a violent mob attacked the U.S. Capitol to overturn a free and fair election. Let’s be clear: January 6th was an attack on our democracy. History will remember it as such, but at a time when the truth is being rewritten, I’m committed to preserving it.
