Mark Teixeira spits the bit-o-money from his disturbing exmoor horse-face on how he first got into politics: "I've always loved America and it was 2008 when Obama became president and I'm like... So I started to donate to candidates."

1977: That time Rod Stewart won best "๐Œ๐€๐‹๐„ ๐’๐ˆ๐๐†๐„๐‘" and finished 8th (between Demis Roussos and Queen) for "๐๐Ž๐‘๐„ ๐Ž๐… ๐“๐‡๐„ ๐˜๐„๐€๐‘" in Record Mirror's Poll Results. Guess we know how the Record Mirror artist voted...

The biblical battle of the brainwashing Jesus Won jerseys! Keith Olbermann: "Been fighting it all year and I'm confident the voters will go with Sal Stewart (because voters always see Bob Hamelin before they see Jim Edmonds or Manny Ramirez) but Carson Benge is, in fact, the NL Rookie of the Year."

1973: Hero Michael Burke to Steinbrenner after he bitched about Bobby Murcer striking out on Opening Day. "Knock off that shit, George! Murcer will strike out again, knock in runs again, hit home runs again. So unless you want to destroy the boy, let's not have any more of that chickenshit stuff!"

Another righteous pull from my '70s Punk/Psychotronic crate... Sept. 1977: 49 years ago...a wild week or so worth of shows at CBGB! With The Mumps, Nervous Rex (Nervus Rex)!, The Senders!, The Rousers, Sucide!, The Dead Boys!...and coming Richard Hell!

Bild

62 yrs later & I'm still pissed that "Double-Header" was turned down by that eternal snot-rag Saturn Girl and the Legion of Super Heroes when he/they tried to join! I mean, the super-power to look like Baron von Raschke and Fritz von Raschke at the same time is unmatched in subhuman history!

Bild

Sept. 23, 2000: 3B supremo, Aurelio Rodrรญguez...gone 26 years now In a cosmic coinkydink of egad proportions, Aurelio Rodrรญguez, Aurelio Lรณpez and Aurelio Monteagudo are the only 3 players in MLB* history named Aurelio and all three were killed in car accidents between the ages of 44 and 52.

Bild

Bomp 1978: 48 audience pummeling years ago...groovy Greg Shaw reviewed The Cramps' second killer single "Human Fly" (Vengeance Records)...and juke boxed the ears offa James Chance in the process!

Bild

A wild pull from my '70s Punk/Psychotronic crate...this 'un from 1974. There are a lot of things I've hated in my life...and Robert Conrad is most of them.

Bild

Another find in my stuff: A 1979 ad for New York's The Mod Frames' (who were led by noted rock/sports crit Billy Altman) "Still Smiling Today" single. A neat slice of '60s powerpop...never got their second single. Plus the Bruce Gordon/Frank Nitti inside biz is an absolute killer!

Bild

Sept. 21, 1984: 42 tonsil removing years ago..went to see the Replacements again at Maxwell's with quirky They Might Be Giants opening. While J.J. Smuggo hoisted the moist to the Mats, he no likeee They Might Be Giants. Smuggo: "If I wanted to see a freakin' novelty act, I'd go see P. D. Q. Bach!"

Just came across a couple more Ray Robinson-fueled โ€œBaseball Starsโ€ books that I thought were long gone (I'm looking at you dim-witted step-family from hell). Gots 1959 to 1973 and only missing the 1970 book. The series began in 1950 (then took a few years off, came back in 1953) and ended in 1975.

Was just reading in an old Mr. Snitch column that in 1963, Hoboken had *219* taverns, 34 liquor package stores and 17 clubs with bars. No wonder that drinker with a writing problem, Brendan Behan went on that infamous early '60s Hoboken bar-closing, pub crawl!

Bild

Another one from my '70s Punk/Psychotronic crates... A 1979 subscription ad (act quick to get yerself a free Germs LP!) for the fab Slash fanzine...which folded about a year later. Think I have more Slash ads that issues of Slash, as I always had trouble locating them.

Bild

Just knocked off Richie Unterberger's excellently loaded 800 page-turner of a book, "Do What You Fear Most: The History of The Velvet Underground"...and my one great takeaway comes from the lips of Lou Reed's girlfriend Barbara Hodes: "Lou ๐‡๐€๐“๐„๐ƒ Bill Graham!"

Bild

Hey, another worthless find my stuff... A 1975 Rigby: Dial-A-Concert hotline ad which always used to be placed next to the Titus Oaks Record Exchange ad in the Voice! Or as my old pal Lott the Snot used to say: "They better have fucking Tull listed today!"

Bild

Another flipped-out find in my Psych/Punk crate... Damn, the Oct. 1975 CREEM - BOY HOWDY! Wham-O FRISBEE offer that I never filled out and sent in! "throw it at the adam's apple of your favorite popstar!" (start ducking, Sheeran!)

Bild

Super find in my '70s Punk/Psychotronic crate.. Sept. 1976: Week plus of shows at the fab Max's Kansas City! Sept. 16: *๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ* yrs ago, Cheap Trick's first gig at Max's where they were promoting their forthcoming debut LP and lots of other great bands...Mink DeVille!, Demons! Chris Stamey's Sneakers!

Bild

Another find in my '70s Punk/Psychotronic crate A 1975 Village Voice ad for John Waters' "Female Trouble"...with a sex-spankin' Rex Reed blurb! "Extraordinary perversity" lovers unite!

Bild

With microbial spoiled ginger-head Ed Sheeran all over the news. I've always wondered who is a fan of his duff stuff. I recalled that wee Mike Lupica was a fan after he posted this pic of his going to see Sheeran a few yrs back. Lupica musta been worn out from yelling "๐ƒ๐Ž๐–๐ ๐ˆ๐ ๐…๐‘๐Ž๐๐“!" all night.
