Oregon is experiencing the worst drought since 2022. That means above-average temperatures, below-average rainfall and snowpack and more fuel for potential wildfires. Stay alert this wildfire season, conserve water where you can and stay aware of conditions by signing up for statewide alerts.

Today I am honoring Commander Gabriel Edwards from Oakland, Oregon, who was lost at sea while serving his country. My thoughts are with his wife Rebecca and their two children. His heroism will never be forgotten.

It’s been 17 years since the federal minimum wage last increased to $7.25. In Oregon, gas prices have gone up 93%, utility costs 81% and housing prices 107% in that time. Oregon has increased the minimum wage and met the moment, but the country hasn't. The American people can’t wait any longer.

I stopped by the Linn-Benton Community College's Agricultural Center to check out the progress on their new arena, sheep barn, horse paddock and more. These improvements will provide enhanced, on-site learning opportunities and eliminate travel barriers for agricultural and animal science students.

It was great meeting with UCC’s Upward Bound TRIO program. TRIO gave me the support I needed when I was in school and now it supports over 12,000 students in Oregon. TRIO is an amazing program for first-generation and rural students to get the guidance they need on their way to college.
