Kid lit illustrator/author, rep'd by Karly Dizon at Fuse. OCTAVIO debut PB coming Spring 2026!
It's #kidlitartpostcard day, and I haven't participated in a little while. My name is Dustin, I'm an illustrator and author of children's books, and my debut picture book Octavio is on shelves now! I'm available for illustration work, and I have many stories to share. Cheers!
Digging deep for subject matter for this week's daily sketches.
Last week's daily sketches - cute animals as D&D character classes!
A portrait of my favorite author William Gibson that I did a few years ago; still hoping for him to do a post-pandemic book tour at some point so I can get a print signed.
Finally! The cover is off the cover! You can now preorder a signed copy at eugeniawangcomic.com. #kidlit #graphicnovel #coverreveal #booksky @mgescapades.bsky.social @scbwirockymtn.bsky.social @annmrose.bsky.social @kristiechoi.bsky.social @simonkids.bsky.social
Here's another oldie - these guys came up in a Jeopardy question last night (Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan at the Scopes Monkey Trial) and it made me want to go find these illustrations, from my thesis project in about 2014.
Sharing some older portrait art, this one from 2018. We just saw The Goonies at the theater, so Josh Brolin is front-of-mind this week.
I should be sharing more art over here; here are some of my favorite recent #dailysketches that I share each week.
Process video of a fun sketch from a few years ago. I love working from a midtone like this, so highlights can fly off the page. Happy winter everyone!

This is a weird time to have good news, but... I have good news! This story has been seven years in the making, and it's finally going to make its way out into the world as a real live children's picture book! It should hit the shelves in Spring 2026, and be available everywhere books are sold :)
Hello #kidlitartpostcard community! This little octopus guy just finally signed himself a book deal! Details in another post. Portfolio at www.reschasketch.com #kidlit #childrensbooks
Live sketching the wonderful #pandas at @smithsonianzoo before they go back to China. Great zoo trip despite the absurd heat :)

Sharing my last week of daily sketches. I've been trying to keep up with sketching at least a little bit every day.
I'll take this New Social Media opportunity to plug my kid lit portfolio site, at www.reschasketch.com. Please take a look sometime!
