Stories of Resilience – Voices from Jasper is launching Phase 2 to support long-term wildfire recovery, disaster preparedness, and #climateadaptation in Jasper!

As part of Jasper’s 2-year #wildfire commemoration event, TRI facilitated a community art piece in collaboration with local artist Greg Deagle. #Jasper residents were welcomed to sit, connect, reflect and create pieces of art representing different layers of a regenerating forest.

Nature-based approaches require long-term #investment. But for many communities facing #climate impacts, funding opportunities remain short-term and project-based.

When it comes to nature-based solutions and related concepts, the language used matters. Clear, #accessible terminology may be just as important as the technical concepts themselves!

What is your Story of Resilience?

Did you know that bison wallows are part of the reason they’re considered a keystone species? #Bison often roll on the ground during mating season or to ward off insects. This behaviour creates distinct depressions in the ground, which store water & create microecosystems teeming with #prairie life.

Currently, there are over 890 #wildfires burning across #Canada. Numerous out-of-control wildfires have prompted widespread evacuations, particularly in Ontario, Quebec, the Northwest Territories, the northern Prairie provinces, and Interior British Columbia.

Much of the ocean’s salt comes from land due to chemical weathering. The slightly acidic pH of rainwater reacts with rocks, releasing sodium & chloride ions, which are carried by rivers to the ocean. Hydrothermal vents on the seafloor also release minerals from deep below the Earth’s crust! #science
