Praying today with Judges 7- let us pray 🙏: O Lord, I’ve been so conditioned to think all attacks and violence are bad. I can barely organize 3 let alone 300 sounding the trumpet 🎺 and smashing the jars 🏺. But when You are with Your people? Who can defeat us? Help us organize and pray and rise up.

The First Lesson
Judges 7:19-8:12
A Reading from the Book of Judges.
So GiDEoN and the hundred who were with
him came to the outskirts of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, when they had just set the watch; and they blew the trumpets and smashed the jars that were in their hands.
20 So the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the jars, holding in their left hands the torches, and in their right hands the trumpets to blow; and they cried, "A sword for the LorD and for Gideon!" " Every man stood in his place all around the camp, and all the men in camp ran; they cried out and fled. 2 When they blew the three hundred trumpets, the LorD set every man's sword against his fellow and against all the army; and the army fled as far as Beth-shiccah coward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath.
And the men of Israel were called our from Naphtali and from Asher and from all Manasseh, and they pursued after the Midianites. 24 Then Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, "Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters against them, as far as Beth-barah, and also the Jordan." So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and they seized the waters as far as Beth-barah, and also

It's demoralizing living in a nonstop Abuse-a-thon: we've had to learn the sordid details of so many men's abhorrent behavior; I mean this summer has been Graham Platner, Andrew Tate, Jared Leto, Max Miller, plus the horrific L.A. rape-murder of the child by the rapper, to name a few lowlights.

Praying today with Judges 7- let us pray 🙏: God, I’m fascinated how you speak to Gideon, and declare that more troops must go home because if not the victory “would only take credit away from me.” You really are a jealous god and we are self involved! My help comes from You. Let me claim it today.

The First Lesson
Judges 7:1-18
A Reading from the Book of Judges.
HEN Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the troops that were with him rose early and encamped beside the spring of Harod; and the camp of Midian was north of them, below the hill of Moreh, in the valley. The LorD said to Gideon, "The troops with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand. Israel would only take the credit away from me, saying,
'My own hand has delivered me? 3 Now therefore proclaim this in the hearing of the troops,
•Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home." Thus Gideon sifted them out; twenty-two thousand returned, and ten thousand remained.
+ Then the LorD said to Gideon, "The troops are still too many; take them down to the water and I will sift them out for you there. When I say, "This one shall go with you, he shall go with you; and when I say, "This one shall not go with you,' he shall not go." 5 So he brought the troops down to the water; and the LoRD said to Gideon,
"All
those who lap the water with their tongues, as a dog laps, you shall put to one side; all those who kneel down to drink, putting their hands to their mouths, you shall put to the other side." 6 The number of those that lapped was three hundred; but all the rest of the troops knelt down to drink water. 7 Then the LorD said to Gideon, "With the

Praying today on the Feast of the Holy Myrrh Bearers, Joanna, Mary, Salome & the other Mary, on Aug 3. Let us pray 🙏- Oh Lord, we who go to the tombs, we whose names and lives feel forgotten, You know us. You meet us at the grave. You give us to one another. See us this day. Let us see one another

resurrection.
Little is known about the lives of Joanna, Mary, and Salome beyond their faithful and unwavering devotion and service to Christ. Joanna is identified in the Gospel of Luke as the wife of Chuza, a steward of Herod, and in Luke 8:2-3 is counted among the women who followed and provided for Jesus after having been healed by him.
The Gospel of Mark includes Salome in a list of women present at the crucifixion without any further information; according to early Christian tradition Salome was a relative of Mary the Mother of Jesus.
In addition to Joanna, Salome, and Mary Magdalene, Matthew 28:1 lists a woman it refers to as "the other Mary." Mark 16:1 refers to her as Mary the mother of James. John 19:25 recounts that Mary the wife of Cleopas was present at the crucifixion, and historically the Christian tradition has tended to assume that all three of these Marys are actually the same person.
The little information that we do have about these women shows them to be faithful disciples and worthy of our commemoration and, more importantly, emulation.
There is a particular
devotion to these "Holy Myrrhbearers" in the Orthodox Church, and the second Sunday after Easter is celebrated as "Myrrhbearers Sunday".Bild

How is this being covered on SportsCenter? If this is covered I demand that General Hospital also get covered. This is an FCC violation. THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING TO THIS MATTER. ~Rev Laura E. Everett

I saw a man with an Arsenal leg tattoo and asked him what he thought of losing McCabe. He looked confused. And because I am who I am, I kept going. “Katie McCabe? Isn’t that an Arsenal tattoo?” I can hold an awkward silence for YEARS, saints, waiting for those neurons to connect.

What condescending commentary on ESPN. #Boston Sammy Smith wasn’t “bailed out by VAR.” She scored the goal & the officials confirmed it. Academics have found that women athletes more frequently experience headlines that minimize their accomplishments as compared to their male counterparts. #NWSL

I love women’s football. Am I in a new airport? Did I see a woman in a Senegal warm up kit? Did we immediately become new best friends and discuss #WAFCON chaos?! We did, gentle reader. Futbol unites, fifa divides.

Praying today with Genesis 32- let us pray 🙏: oh, we’re gonna wrestle this one down, Lord, because ALL of the Scripture readings today minimized the women. Jacob and all his wives? Feeding 5,000 “not counting women and children?” You are a God who can handle our grappling. Preserve our lives. Fight

The First Reading
Genesis 32:22-31
A Reading from the Book of Genesis.
HE same night he got up and took his two wives, his two maids, and his eleven children and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 2 He took them and sent them across the stream, and likewise everything that he had.
24 Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket, and Jacob's hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. 26 Then he said,
"Let me go, for the day is breaking." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me." 27 So he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob." 2ö Then the man said, "You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with humans and have prevailed." 29 Then Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." But he said, "Why is it that you ask my name?" And there he blessed him. 3° So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying.
"For I have seen God face to face, yet my life is preserved." 3" The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his hip.
Hear what the Spirit is saying to God's people.
Thanks be to God.

Sabbath sign out: a leftover sandwich and some advanced reading. Aren’t we all leftovers though? Some of us put on more airs to fancy ourselves up, but we’re all just mud and spit with a little bit of Breath. I do it too. But tonight I’m breaking, human and resting. Laying down the heavy load. Rest.

Praying today with Judges 5- let us pray 🙏: “I will make melody to the Lord.” Have we forgotten to sing songs of Your victories, O God? Deborah & Barak sing out of Your mighty works. How alive I felt at those concerts! Scripture here as protest songs, but we have forgotten the tune. Get me singing.
