I caught many fish this weekend, mostly on a fiberglass rod. The highlight though was a 14" brown trout, rare for western Oregon, on a dry fly.
Just went on a loud, rant about what a fucking moron Trump is and how dumb everything going on with Iran is at my kids' orthodontist appointment. The phrase "spiritually small penis" might have been used. Little treat for all the kids and families on a Friday afternoon.

Not my experience with these parents. "Anti-" and "hesitant" are two very distinct groups. Anti are bad parents who eagerly use their children to signal their commitment to a social group. Their children's pain is a medal signaling their commitment.
public health guy@publichealthguy1.bsky.social · 5mo agoi don't think most anti-vaccine parents are bad parents. we are drowning in medical misinformation. it's really hard! and a lot of these parents are more accurately described as vaccine hesitant than ideologically opposed. they have good faith questions that deserve to be answered with compassion.
The fact that Rick Scott draws air outside the confines of a prison cell for defrauding the government and causing hospitals to close is proof of this.

This is the kind of thing that gets me excited nowadays. Did I catch any on a dry fly? No. Did I catch any on a soft hackle blue winged olive trailing off a dry just under the surface? Yes. A good number for an hour or so in February.
Was pretty stoked on how that sculpzilla turned out. Way less stocked to have lost it. Anyway, short session seeing how far I could get out into the extremely low river swinging some flies.
My area always makes the news for the best reasons.

He shot and missed one + attempted to get another in his truck to bring to police. Before his spree, he called local PD to complain about "foreign" people.

The olive pettirosso delivers almost immediately. Then I switch it up and lose one on a dry (after a great eat), another on a streamer, and one more on a Duracell, which previously hasn't produced for me. Lessons: keep moving and technique trumps pattern
My professional opinion having worked with these guys is that most of the people who ran counterinsurgency operations are statistically the most likely to end up in the ER after getting stuck in a finger trap.

Damned fine day. Two 15-16" hatchery holdovers and a smaller native rainbow with very different coloring. Another broke me off. Huge hatch going on today and the fish were very active. Sadly, we need rain and snow. The river was very low and clear.
My role was non-uniformed and far from combat. And the contributions of our allies was evident every day. It pisses me off so much to hear squealing hogs who would never serve their community or country like Trump and his supporters talk like this.

Oregon's winter inversions in action. Two days apart, but nevertheless. It stayed pretty foggy in town today. This isn't far out of town. But up at 4500 feet it was warmer than in the valley and absolutely gorgeous. Water felt colder today though.
