I had the honor earlier today to present at the last @nws.noaa.gov Foundation Friday webinar diving into the evolving landscape of QLCS mesovortex prediction. Hoping this is just the beginning of many future discussions on how to advance QLCS hazard forecasting and extend lead time ⛈️

So overjoyed to be part of a community that embraces the full tapestry of its membership! There once was a time when I kept quiet about my identify in professional spaces, for fear of judgement or retribution in my career endeavors - as it once had been for many decades 🧵 (1/2) bit.ly/4vbj1lp

Absolute monsters, utterly unfit for the uniform. If you can't handle an excited pupper showing you his jersey without using deadly force, you should not be a cop. In addition to legal action, may they always get stuck at red lights and never find the cool side of their pillows.

LAPD killed a woman’s dog on Friday. The officers showed up 20 deep w/ a helicopter over a noise complaint. LAPD claims the dog “charged” at them. The labradoodle was wearing a Knick’s jersey, too. The video is distressing. I’ll link it in the thread.

A woman lays on her dead dog as a crowd of officers stand around in an outside hallway.

One of the most reprehensible decisions ever made in the history of college football. Any who cares about CFB, or the integrity of sports *period*, should shudder at this. It undermines so many of the core tenets of team sports - integrity, trust, accountability. Just unbelievable...

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby’s preliminary injunction was granted by a judge. He’ll play for the Red Raiders in 2026.

We're less than 1 week from the deadline for the 2026 AMS Madison Summit! As you finish (or in some cases, just start 😅) your submission, don't forget our joint session between @ams-sls-stac.bsky.social & Cloud Physics exploring recent advances in severe/high impact weather microphysics 🧵 (1/2)

Though AMS Annual is still fresh in our minds, the abstract deadline for deadline for the @ametsoc.org Madison Summit is rapidly approaching. With that in mind, I'm excited to share our joint session hosted between @ams-sls-stac.bsky.social & Cloud Physics! (1/2) ⛈️🌧️❄️

I'm ecstatic to announce that I will be joining the UND Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences this fall as an Assistant Professor! This huge milestone is the culmination of a dream over a decade in the making - one that's taken me across 3 (soon 4) states, 3 degrees, and 2 postdoctoral experiences... (1/2)

And in a blink, another AMS has come & gone! From getting an Editor's Award, to sharing new research, and reconnecting with countless friends - the week was a joyful whirlwind. With each passing year, I hold onto these moments a little longer, thankful for the folks I get to share this field with ❤️

For all my QLCS enthusiasts, come see my poster this afternoon (going on now until 4:30), synthesizing some recent project to reassess how we look at bow echoes within the context of mesovortex formation! 🌪️

Though a small milestone to some, today I passed the century mark in citations! Since my 1st paper, I've grown immensely as a scientist - in my interests, my writing, and so on. As I move into the next phase of my career (details coming soon!), I'm excited to see how my science continues to grow ✍

Embarrassment of a decision, from an embarrassment of a university. Even as someone with deeply-held faith, this decision fundamentally undercuts the ability of instructors to hold students to fair, rigorous, and fact-based standards. Inexplicable for an R1 public institution...

A graduate teaching assistant who gave a University of Oklahoma student a failing grade on a psychology essay will no longer be teaching at the university

This is hard to fathom, let alone stomach. NCAR has been one of the leaders in the atmospheric science community for over half a century. Their scientists have pioneered countless advances in observing, modeling & understanding the weather/climate systems. (1/2) www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

Well even though PSU football is a perennial disappointment, my gameday goodies weren't 🏈chicken bacon ranch dip, PSU old fashioned's with PA rye, and a whiteout vanilla creme cake (Side Note: who's down to go in on Franklin's buyout? 😅 💰)

Just as with the assassination of state representative Melissa Hortman earlier this summer, the horrific violence carried out today is a vile display of hate which goes against our country's fundamental principles. This is *not* a partisan matter - when free speech is met with violence, we all lose.

Well, the cat is out of the bag - I'm beyond honored to receive an AMS Editor's Award from MWR/WAF! I take peer review very seriously, especially for student authors, so it is immensely gratifying to be recognized for the time and thought that I pour into the review process ✍️
