Of Christian faith; MLB Angels fan; regulatory compliance person; reader. Communication, like free will, is an illusion. But we must try.
Why is it too difficult for @angels.com to post on Bluesky? Why ignore their fans on Bluesky? Hoping Molly Jolly (so glad she was made club President, Moreno’s smartest move in a long time) will address and correct that deficiency. #GoHalos #RepTheHalo
Excellent interview and discussion here. Very helpful and instructive, accessible and comfortable, not overbearing. @disarmingl.bsky.social @revcalebcampbell.bsky.social @andyjudd.bsky.social

Some good things you will experience with a regular diet of reading good novels: Within the pages you will meet someone new; you will meet someone familiar; you will meet yourself (a jolting experience, when it happens). #booksky
So glad to see the Angels finally make some solid moves to make needed changes in the organization. Today’s MLB trade deadline moves would not have happened without new Club President Molly Jolly, the best move owner Arte Moreno has made for the @angels.com in a long time. #GoHalos #RepTheHalo

Another book recommendation, Tish Harrison Warren’s “What Grows in Weary Lands”. Rev. Warren is today’s Dorothy L. Sayers in the way she profoundly and intimately unwraps for the church layperson the wisdom and comfort in Christian theology.

“It was the first time I understood that my discomfort wasn’t a nuisance to manage. It was a summons.” - J. M. C. Kane
“I told him, in confidence, that I was suffering a crisis of conscience. I asked him how he felt about placing human beings in hot tents in Southwest Texas. About locking them inside plexan and steel ‘pods,’ like cages in any garden-variety zoo. He shrugged. ‘Money is money.’” —J. M. C. Kane
“I wept when I was borne, and every day shewes why.” - George Herbert So true. :( But, there is beauty too. Grateful the day does not hold sorrow only, it holds beauty as well.
Some good reading here, as usual from @plough.bsky.social. David Bentley Hart’s article is a worthwhile read, even for non-baseball fans.

Question and observation, a year and a half into Pres Trump’s 2nd term who, other than the obscenely wealthy, can say things are better now? And it seems, from the small news sampling below, the probability is good that when Pres Trump addresses something, that thing will get worse. Not better.
Just finished reading Kate Bowler’s JOYFUL ANYWAY. A wonderful, blessed read. This is a value added book - it adds value to the reader’s day. #KateBowler #JoyfulAnyway

I loved this conversation with Daniel Yang from World Relief (the humanitarian arm of the National Association of Evangelicals). Full episode on the Disarming Leviathan substack or YouTube channel.
Sometimes I’ll read something, or hear something, or experience something that draws from me the response, “There is a balm in Gilead.” This article drew that response from me. Thank you Stephen White and @plough.bsky.social
“Think what it would mean to love God with all your heart. Not the parts you are willing to spare after attending to your other loves. All of it. This is something no human being has ever fully accomplished; it is something we are being shaped toward.” —Stephen White

For many years I’ve heard, and heard of, pastors from the pulpit extolling Republican policies. One learns this has been a decades long practice. It’s been a good guys/bad guys message. It misses the mark, though.

No better singer/songwriter than Lucinda Williams. “So I gotta ask you Did you give it any thought ? I just gotta ask you How does it feel to be bought? How much (how much) did you get for your soul?” How Much Did You Get For Your Soul? Makes me think, sorrowfully, of our Republican leaders.
Not a fun read, but a valuable and very helpful read. Highly recommend. @tanglenews.bsky.social

Someone dear shared with me that as they were walking in town they saw a reflection of themself in a business's window. A negative narrative about their appearance began. But they interrupted that narrative and, looking at that reflection, they said, "I love that person." Love that wisdom and grace.

Republicans, do you know any rational leader who would post a video of one’s self dropping excrement on protestors; post a video with a racist portrayal of a former black Pres. and First Lady 😭; post a picture of one’s self as Christ and give as defense one’s obtuseness in thinking it was a doctor?
