After a relaxing summer it’s great to be back talking about the issues I am most passionate about. It was a pleasure to be asked to deliver the Singapore Attorney General’s Biennale lecture last week.

It has been the privilege of my life to serve my country as Attorney General over the last two years. I’ve been so lucky to be a part of Keir’s team, as he delivered for the public at home while rebuilding the UK’s reputation abroad, in particular on the rule of law.

Keir Starmer is leaving Downing Street with his head held high. It says everything about the man, that he does so with grace and dignity.

This Labour government has done some remarkable things. In just two years, under Keir, we have ended austerity, with record investment in public services. We have ensured the NHS is on track to cut waiting times at the fastest rate in its history. (1/2)

The Hillsborough Law is a radical reworking of the relationship between those who hold power and those they serve. I spoke to @lbc.co.uk this week about that and other key parts of Keir Starmer's legacy, of which he can be truly proud.

An amazing story, that isn’t just about the kindness of strangers, but how humanity transcends religious differences. A group of Australians – who I am proud to say are old friends – have taken in refugees as part of a volunteer programme. Their collective story is deeply moving.

Today, we all pay tribute to the courage of the families & campaigners who made the Hillsborough Law possible. It will radically change the relationship between those who govern and the people they govern, forever.

Delighted to join my friend David at @chathamhouse.org today, to make the case for why int law has never been more important. We have seen in real time what strongman foreign policy looks like, and I'd suggest none of the protagonists are better off economically or militarily as a consequence.

Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in UK, suffered the injustice of the death penalty. Today, her exceptional case comes to a conclusion after over 70 years, and she has received a conditional pardon. I hope today’s announcement can bring some peace to them.

Because of Keir Starmer's leadership, the UK is once again the centre of gravity internationally. That is of massive benefit to the British people. I spoke with @adamboulton.bsky.social on Keir's legacy, defending the independence of the judiciary & why int law is in the UK's national interest.

Strongly support this move from my excellent colleague. The reality is that Twitter / X does push misinformation, abuse and racism, and we all know it. While we both support colleagues to make their own choices, Twitter / X is not the country, and there are lots of ways to engage with voters.

Today I joined @jasathwal.bsky.social at an East London Gurdwara, to meet with members of the Sikh community. While there, I reaffirmed this government's commitment to protecting all communities, and I expressed my solidarity and support after a recent rise in racist attacks.

Progressives must reject the false choice between defending liberal values and exercising power. Our task is not to choose between values and power. Because power without values is not strength. It is domination. But equally values without hard power are illusory.

Keir Starmer should be proud of his achievements, rooting out antisemitism in Labour and making us an electoral force, to leading a transformative govt that lifted thousands of kids from poverty, improved worker's rights, kept us out of Iran war & with Britain respected on world stage again. (1/3)

The images from Edinburgh are horrifying, and my thoughts are with those affected by these shocking attacks. The suspect appears to have been motivated by anti-Muslim hatred. We must condemn racism & division in the strongest terms, and show our solidarity to the Muslim community. (1/2)

Social media should be about exchanging ideas and bringing people together, not racism, misogyny and dividing communities. I'm proud to be part of a government that is taking such radical action in creating a safer, healthier life online for our children and future generations. (1/2)
