I don’t know the Odyssey well enough so can’t comment on how close to the epic it is (and I’m banned from talking about armour accuracy) but I must say I really enjoyed the film last night. Circe is a great character and Agamemnon properly scary! #odyssey #Homer

#findsfriday - this week the team have found lots of blank rounds in the practice trenches. dates from 1911 (made in the Royal Labs Woolwich) to 1915 made in Kings Norton and a 1917. All this info is on the object - you don’t get that in prehistory! #archaeology #firstworldwar #relevant #wellbeing

Loving reading through the Trysor exhibition catalogue from Oriel Môn, Anglesey. Amongst the discoveries are 2 Iron Age treasures from RAF Valley found by RAF personnel in 2024. Quick update from the project at RAF Valley. Lots of excitement within the team and a very successful trip. Suffice it to say it will make a cracking @timeteamofficial prog. #findsfriday - the Lewis Chess pieces. Now in the @ntlmuseumsscot.bsky.social Edinburgh, these 12-13 century items were made from walrus ivory & whale teeth, found in around 1831. Initially carved in Norway they highlight links to Scandinavia. Quite wonderful. #archaeology #chess

***Stop Press*** A rather incredible piece of news just in. The Crick has examined the DNA of the two individuals in a Saxon burial at Cherington in our dig with @timeteam.bsky.social & @cotswoldarch.bsky.social & found that they were BROTHER & SISTER. Astonishing what science can do now.
