Today I completed a small #climateaction via @cclusa.org by writing my newly sworn in representatives to let them know that #climatechange is top of mind for me and many of my fellow constituents. Share your concerns with your representatives. Personalize your messages. Cite data. Keep on doing it.
Thanks to climate change, we're barreling towards an insurance crisis, as I wrote for @climateconnections.bsky.social today. It's not just California and Florida – nobody's insurance rates are safe 🧵(1/13)

We’re disappointed that it looks like Congress’ final spending package of the year will not include the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024. But America still needs these reforms — it’s vital to speed up clean energy deployment. Here’s our full statement:
Statement on Energy Permitting Reform Act negotiations
The need for these reforms is not going away. We will continue to work on this issue with both sides of the aisle in the next Congress.

Final week of “(Mis)trust in Research,” a course I team-taught this semester. Students presented their evidence synthesis (ES) projects on mis/distrust of various types of science/expertise. Impressive stuff, esp. from 1st-semester students! ES = a great way to teach #researchskills & #dataliteracy

Just a reminder that Amazon workers are striking tomorrow through Monday, and that none of the “deals” are good enough to justify crossing the picket line.
“Overall, I think we will see a significant pullback in the breathability of air and drinkability of water, in the protections Americans have come to expect.” #climate #environment

This weekend, we enjoyed a hike on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, the jewel of Western Pennsylvania. The mosses and lichens really pop when the late autumn woods are muted shades of brown and gray.
