After what feels like a lifetime, Grimes is back and as expressive as ever. When Elon went maga, grimes had to vanish. I think the scene with her & baby in this video says a lot. She’s back and making interesting videos. Finally. #Indie dance music

An intense day of live indie rock music ending with an absolutely stellar performance by The Strokes. 40,000 fans filled the Workd’s Fairgrounds. Julian & the gang were is top form - played many classics and songs from their new album. TV on the Radio and Beach House & The Fcukers were all excellent

I’ve skipped Chvrches releases in recent years, but loved them early on. They’ve released their first new song in a few years, and I’m back in! It’s got 2026 anxiety, post-punk guitars and Chvrches feeling. If like me, you’ve lost touch with them, check it out. Chvrches is back. Indie pop/indie rock

Yesterday, Ladytron released a new video of a single from their newest album, Paradises. I love the way the band members always seem mysterious/hidden. It works with their subtle melodies and the way their electronic soundscape wraps me up in a warm blanket. Electronic indie music

Song of the year candidate for me was just released by Sylvan Esso. Every part of my mind and body gets activated by this song. This is making me super excited to see them in October. This song must be what LCD meant when they said to dance yourself clean.

Take The Form is the latest release from indie pop heroes, Of Montreal, from Georgia. Tasty guitar driven madness with achingly deep feels as one expects from the indie rock powerhouse. Great listen!

@jennylsq.bsky.social heard Hannah Hunt on XMU just now and can’t quite understand how it still hits me like it was 2013.

On this day five years ago, Aug 4th, 2021 I went to my first post-pandemic concert. The show was such a release of energy. It had been over a year with no concerts. It happened to be Beach Bunny and it turned into the biggest mosh pit I had seen in decades. Lockdown feels like a lifetime ago.

Stars, Broken Social Scene and Metric are touring together celebrating decades of friendship. Last night in NY I soaked in the potent vibe. It was an unforgettable star-filled 4 hours. Emily Haines & the boys infectious energy topped off the party at the luxurious Brooklyn Paramount #indierock

New music from Not For Radio, the new solo project of The Marias front woman María Zardoya in her “not for pop” phase gives us a sensual dance groove that seems completely in character. Cool new indie music for Friday night.

I finally caught Spoon in concert. What a day it was. Openers Bodega and Ratboys were stellar. The Manhattan sky was blue and warm, and the rock and roll was on. #indierock #guitarrock #spoontheband #summerstage

Bliss, the new album from Temples (from England) was released yesterday. This song speaks to my Buddhist way of thinking. “Stop what you’re doing, you can feel the earth spin” and merges their psychedelic feel with a powerful beat. Dance away your mind. Indie rock, guitar rock.

Violet Grohl and The Breeders playing at the Rooftop at Pier 17 in Manhattan was a post-punk party. I quite enjoyed Grohl’s band. I need more info about her bass player. Wow! The Breeders have a huge presence. Kim Deal was all smiles and powerful vocals. Great grungy night.

Powerful new music from The Linda Lindas shows that you can’t keep these young women down. Pop and punk power, attitude and plenty of skill. Great stuff! Indie rock, pop punk, guitar rock

I was lucky enough to attend Phoebe Bridgers’ concert tonight in Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. There are no words in the English language… She opened singing a beautiful version of Motion Sickness. No phones, so here’s a similar version from YouTube. Amazing night! #indierock

How to summarize day 3 at Kilby Block Party? Here are two short clips to highlight. Magdalena Bay and Hayley Williams. But the real highlight is the joy of a three day indie-led festival in the mountains. Joy and sadness that it’s over.

Day 2 at Kilby Block Party music festival, I saw Cardinals, Automatic, The Last Dinner Party and headliners the xx. Live music is the best. Great location, great crowd. Here are two short clips. First, TDLP with a few seconds of Big Dog. Indie Rock

I saw 8 bands day 1 at Kilby Block Party. Indie Rock heaven. I posted 3 short clips in this thread below. Bands in this picture are Gelli Haha, Snail Mail (she killed), Beach Bunny (open the pit!), Japanese Breakfast, and Turnstile. Check the thread for Dry Cleaning, Modest Mouse, and FJM.

So much indie rock in one festival! My happy place this week is in Salt Lake City.

The greatest guitarists seem to be one with their instruments. Take Courtney Barnett’s guitar solo in One Thing at a Time for example. I recorded half a minute of it last night in Brooklyn. Incredible night w/my favorite drummer Stella+super bassist Bones. Indie Rock. Full song: youtu.be/rPgaP3SJZKU

I’m discovering Kevin Morby because of this song. Asking fav Sylvan Esso singer Amelia Meath to accompany him worked to pull me in. Then the vibe and lyrics drew me in the rest of the way. Peaceful yet energetic. Rural yet wise. Indie Rock youtu.be/LXjIhSc5AqQ

AudioFuzz Hot New Album Fridays: Metric Return to the Neon Rush of Indie Rock Glory on ‘Romanticize The Dive’

For this week’s AudioFuzz Hot New Album Fridays, Metric dive headfirst back into the glittering chaos that first made them indie rock icons. ‘Romanticize The Dive’ is urgent, emotional, explosive, and filled with the sound of a band rediscovering exactly why they mattered in the first place.
