Life atop Crow Knob. Historic lookout point in southern Illinois. I discovered it is an excellent indicator of character when mentioning where I rode and having the person who asked cut me off by saying "Oh, (other name that starts with an N) knob."

Pineweed (Hypericum gentianoides) with slender green leaves sporting tiny but perfect yellow flowers grows alongside green moss on the solid rock on top of Crow Knob.Moss and lichens love the top of Crow Knob and surround a small oak tree doing its best to live on solid rock.
You can see the gravel road passing by from this perspective, making it a good lookout point to see who might be sneaking up on you. Ferns line the knob and even some trees do their best to hold on to the edge of the rock.
Thick and fluffy looking pale lichen puffed up like spun cotton candy nestles amid soft textured green moss. The rock path goes down to horse tie lines and a picnic table.
