OK it's going to happen. Fifth time's the charm. Time to start blogging, for real this time.

Terrible news, especially for their workers. Just a deeply disappointing ending for such a promising company. I hate this.

Ozlo just launched the sequel to my most love/hate gadget of the last couple years: Sleepbuds. When they work, they're a game changer. Sleeping with white noise and having alarms just for me is amazing. However..
I've admittedly spent an unhealthy amount on social media recently, and have to admit that X (fka Twitter) is wickedly more addictive than Bluesky. The constant barrage of (weird) hot takes and combativeness is pure nicotine. (Which don't get me wrong, is a bad thing)
Had a little /goal Codex experiment running over the weekend and am.. a bit underwhelmed. I gave it a relatively simple rename refactoring project, but it didn't get anywhere close to completion without blowing through my limits multiple times (on the Pro plan no less)
This year @directus.io has gotten 6× as many security reports as we did over the whole of 2025. This spike started in February, which is when Opus 4.6 launched (surprised? no) AI is great for improving security research, but the value has to be quality over quantity of reports.
AI is straining vulnerability disclosure for maintainers. | Directus
Security reports to Directus jumped 6x in 2026, but only 5% were valid vulnerabilities.

Watched the "Rust inspired TS" talk by @rijk.nyc I haven't looked at #Rust yet but I do use these patterns in #TS and #CSharp (for some years), so I can confirm that they are really helpful. youtu.be/WDCVGaF4IGo

Making my terminal behave like regular text editing (eg use ⌥+delete to delete a whole word, ⇧+arrow to select etc) has been such a tiny but meaningful productivity unlock 👀
Recently, I've been experimenting with a "rolling wave engineering" setup in codex. Instead of speccing out the whole project up front, I only spec out the broad strokes of the project, and then only go into detail one slice at a time.
Tough watch, but a must listen. It's so telling how he switches from "our" and "grammerly" to "them" and the "product team" when the questions get tough.. you're the boss, you're responsible, that's the deal youtu.be/Y5eC5wdQPZs

Strange side-effect of Wispr flow / superwhisper: not entirely sure if the other person on this pair-work video call is trying to talk to me on mute or dictating to the machine :')
500 people decided to build something together. Every commit. Every fix. Every feature. None of them were asked. They just showed up from every corner of the world and made Directus better. Thank you to every single contributor. You're the reason this exists. 💜
I've been trying Wispr Flow for a few weeks and learned something strange about myself: while it's undoubtedly faster than typing, I found myself going back to typing most of the time A) so it remains in my actual tone of voice, and B) because I hate murmuring to myself.
Three weeks ago we started a little channel to share each others social media posts and a friendly competition to increase engagement. Today, we more-than-doubled the number of unique visitors to our website. Coincidence? I think not.
The npmx folks are running a masterclass on community building.
one of the most radical actions the @npmx.dev community took was talking with every single human being who joined our chat server. more than 500 people were welcomed, encouraged to join our open conversations, ask for guidance, share their own ideas, and jump into action when they see opportunities

It seems to be a toss up in quality between codex-5.3 and opus-4.6, but for this little GUI-guy Codex is undeniably better than Claude's “native” app.

An Update on Heroku
Today, Heroku is transitioning to a sustaining engineering model focused on stability, security, reliability, and support. Heroku remains an actively supported, production-ready platform, with an emphasis on maintaining quality and operational excellence rather than introducing new features. We know changes like this can raise questions, and we want to be clear about what this means for customers. There is no change for customers using Heroku today. Customers who pay via credit card in the Heroku dashboard—both existing and new—can continue to use Heroku with no changes to pricing, billing, service, or day-to-day usage. Core platform functionality, including applications, pipelines, teams, …
