Having the Corneria theme, the takeoff part, hit right as I get on an on ramp heading home from work, as the turbo kicked in. All by chance in my playlist. I'll be riding that high for a while!

Adding some more memory to my utility laptop, and turns out you have to take the whole bottom case off. Lots of clips later but 16gb runs a lot better than 8 in this case!
The steam controller replacement arrived and this one actually looks and feels new! Worth the extra wait.

After we fought with some odd display issues on stream last night, with the output flickering in and out even on capture, I did some more testing. Turns out it's my new flat panel I'm using for streaming. Not the computer, not the splitter. Sometimes it's the things you least expect... technology!

My steam controller finally arrived, and while I was excited, it unfortunately had some scrapes and scuffs on it. I can overlook quite a bit, but if I'm spending this much on it, I want to have it as close to new as possible. Valve thankfully is doing a replacement for me. Fingers crossed!
This video is still popping up in my head at times. Very deep into DAoC, so it was the right thing, at the right time.

Something we discuss at home actually, considering we have PCs and consoles mixed. While we trend toward PC, you cannot argue with the ease of use of the console experience. Buy system, buy your game (and yes likely update), but then you play. That's it. I'd say more appealing to most people vs PC.

Yes kids play Roblox etc for the social aspect but there are lots of young gamers who play AAA titles & most of their parents aren’t about to research a gaming PC. Much easier for them to buy a console - in fact I think this is a huge market for digital only games.. 1/X
I think everyone knew this day would come. As primarily a PC gamer, I've been ok with digital games for years, but consoles feel different somehow. Being able to share games among the kids easily on Switch as one example, is a reason we buy physical. Not great. share.google/rVFWgzcPQBBn...

When your coworkers know you, and what you like. On my desk this morning was a Gateway 2000 bundled software binder, ca 1996, and some memory. Their cleaned trash is my treasure. Hits like Encarta, Golf, and Julia Child Home Cooking with Master Chefs. I'll happily take these!

We've enjoyed our time traveling, but now it's time to head on back home. So long, and thanks for all the fish we didn't eat. Homeward bound!
The first photo was from when Mass Effect 3 had just come out. Had to make it work to be able to play that one, which I had anticipated for a long time. Oh and my kid too, I guess. That same kid who now can easily school me in just about any game...

Easily the best part of this trip. Our boys, who have not been around much water, especially beaches, got completely engrossed playing for several hours by the water. Digging channels, redirecting water, building embankments... pure kid joy. The water was cold, but they didn't mind one bit.
This is the same Shuttle system still in service. As is Zoe of course! The other I believe is a fairly run of the mill P4 system I have since scavenged for random projects.

I want to edit this so that any time a rock goes flying it makes a random fart noise. Because I'm a very mature adult person.
Anatoly Shashkin💾@dosnostalgic.bsky.social · 2mo agoThis is retro in one way. Overlooking the town from the fortress in Norway where the Swedish king Charles XII met his demise. The fortress goes as far back as the mid 1600s. Retro!
With @geekate.bsky.social digging up all these old photos and videos, and perhaps current being away, it really makes me want to make videos again. I have a few simple ideas noodling around, before I tackle something larger. Hoping I can turn that into action on my return!
