McKay: "For Sauron as a character at the beginning of season 2, he still thinks he's the hero, right? [...] But then to succeed, he has to double down and basically descend into the worst version of himself, where, by the end, he's the villain of this story, and he knows it." (Source: Total Film)
"Thereafter he strove ever for the dominion of Middle-earth, to become a king over all kings and as a god unto Men."
"If you look at his power on a chart, he's getting closer and closer to being at his peak power. I think we could get a form, or a version, of Sauron where he is Sauron the Terrible, like he is at his most mighty externally, at least." -Charlie Vickers #TheRingsOfPower
According to showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, Adar originally died at the end of Season 1, but this was "very early on in the process" and may not have "ever made it into the draft", only existing as an idea on notecards. Source: Total Film

"I love that you [Charlie] have included that Sauron used to be a giant house cat...he doesn't like to be touched. So cat like." - Morfydd Clark (New Q&A)
"We had this moment where they're getting physically close, where they're almost pinning each other, where they're choosing to not inflict pain or to inflict pain, because I feel like Sauron could have inflicted more pain." -Morfydd Clark (New Q&A) #TheRingsOfPower
According to the new Q&A, Charlie Vickers wouldn't let Morfydd Clark see him in his Annatar look until the day they filmed their reunion scene together. #TheRingsOfPower

Patrick McKay on with Rings and Realms: "When he walks in in E6 in that outfit, to me...the story is he doesn’t care anymore. He’s like I’ve got this all under my thumb, and who he really is is starting to come out. He doesn’t care to hide it as much. He doesn’t have to."
