Defending the #HudsonRiver & protecting drinking water for millions of New York residents. 💧

Good science takes strong partnerships. 💧🔬 Partners like Dottie DiNobile at the Poughkeepsie Water Treatment Plant make this work possible. We’ve teamed up with three universities and five water treatment plants to test the Hudson and its tributaries. Dive in to learn more https://ow.ly/Jx7V50ZBzF9

Garbage juice in our rivers? 🗑️☣️🤢Speak up now to close the loopholes and protect clean water. Toxic garbage juice (leachate) can contain PFAS, heavy metals, pesticides, and other harmful pollutants that threaten clean water and public health. Take action on our site: https://ow.ly/3tKq50Zzp0w

Riverkeeper President Tracy Brown testified before the Westchester County Board of Legislators, urging county leadership to act. All of Westchester and cities and towns up and down the Hudson deserve clean, healthy, flood-resilient waterways, and it starts with our elected leaders stepping up.

Over the course of five weeks from July to August, Kingston YMCA Farm Project students engaged in an experiential learning course with Riverkeeper to understand the source of drinking water. We explored where our water comes from, where it goes, and what happens to it along its path.

We're protecting drinking water at its source. The Filtration Avoidance Determination (FAD) is up for renewal in 2027. By investing in nature-based protections, the FAD saves more than $20b that it would cost to build a filtration plant. Join the 7/20 virtual meeting: https://ow.ly/nP7s50Znrsu

The July 3 holiday-weekend discharge of sewage into the Hudson from a treatment plant in Yonkers is a critical reminder of why Riverkeeper’s work to reduce pollution matters so much. Sewage pollution isn't going away on its own, and as our climate continues to change, the stakes only get higher.

The Westchester County Department of Health is advising residents to avoid all recreational contact with the Hudson River until further notice following a power failure at the Yonkers Sewage Treatment System. We will continue to share information as it becomes available. #hudsonriver #westchester

Turns out getting dunked is a great way to protect the Hudson. 💦 Thank you to our brave colleagues who took a seat in the tank and everyone who lined up for a chance to dunk them. It was one of many unforgettable moments from an evening that celebrated Riverkeeper's 60th anniversary.

Congrats to Sleepy Hollow HS senior Libby Block, whose research on American eels & dam removal earned 1st place in its category at the Westchester Science & Engineering Fair, along with the NASA Earth System Science Project Award. We're proud to have supported Libby's journey at #Riverkeeper.
