Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.

Mother Jones

"In today's society, you know, everybody's filming everything, everybody has a cell phone," Glueck said. If an officer punches someone on camera, that can go viral in an instant; even a standard taser leaves puncture wounds. But "the glove is low optic, and it looks better on camera, and it looks better to those witnesses. With a glove, there are no burn marks or scars."But local police across the country are still eagerly buying the gloves—in large part so that they can harm people and avoid being sued for it. It's been successful "from the patrolmen to the jailers," Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said in a Compliant Technologies promotional video. "It's been a great tool as far as mitigating liability," according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.
Bob Couey of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department sung the GLOVE's praises, too: "I highly recommend these gloves to anybody that's looking for a utility they can use that is conducive to not leading to lawsuits."

This story’s got everything: Spiderman-villain weaponry, Black Hawk Down, vaccine conspiracy theories, weird YouTube videos www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Just wrapped up submitting two first-author presentations and one symposium for AERA. Let’s goooooo Toronto 2027! I’m also excited to have my presentation accepted to the social studies conference (CUFA) in Chicago in December.

There is no neutral material of history. History is not a spectacle for us because it is our own living, our own violence and our own beliefs. - John O’Neil

“Racism doesn’t survive because Black people TALK about it, but because white people, practice, protect, excuse, and benefit from it.”

This is the same man who keeps whining about wanting the Nobel Peace Prize. And if you’ve said absolutely nothing about this madness, my default assumption is that you voted for this shit.

So I know I have a lot of social studies teacher friends on here. If anyone is interested in possibly working together to submit to the Annals of Social Studies Education Research for Teachers, let me know. They are looking for a 1,500-word paper on historical thinking.

If I take time out of my day to read your paper and offer feedback, only to realize that most of it is AI generated or AI structured, it fundamentally changes how I see you as a researcher. I want to hear your voice. I want to see the humanness in your work!

Bombing Iran in the middle of negotiations, while starving Cuba, while genociding Palestinians, while threatening to invade Greenland… the US and Israel are the single greatest threat to humanity and it’s not even close. We are all forced to live in the nightmare they create.

The denial of tenure was never about scholarship. It was a retaliatory move from @texastechlib.bsky.social to send a chilling message: dissent that threatens institutional power will be punished. Shame on Ron Hendrick, Brendon Creighton, Lawrence Schovanec turned tenure into a political tool!

I received over 90% of the votes at the department and college levels, yet the provost denied me tenure. I met and exceeded the promotion and tenure guidelines and expectations as well as my annual and mid-tenure reviews.

If you want a fuller, more honest history of the U.S., listen to Black women. The most recent killing tied to ICE reflects a much deeper and longer history of state sponsored violence.

Our special issue (Use and Waste in Education and Qualitative Research) for QSE (International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education) has been approved. Looking forward to embark on this journey with the two other editors JoshCruz and Tuyen Pham! More to come.

This administration represents the worst of governance! theft disguised as policy, violence masquerading as order, and war sold as necessity. I know there are scholars here who identify as critical. I’m interested in whether that commitment is consistent across forms of oppression.

Why do you think education is failing? Multiple studies show that in Texas alone, nearly 40-50 percent of all new hires are uncertified teachers. These numbers are mind boggling.

My grandparents and parents lived through the Civil Rights Movement. Do you really think their attitudes changed that much? Let’s stop pretending that your Mamaw is just a sweet old lady, her history matters.

m so happy to share that I’ve received the Graduate Student Research Support Award from the @TTUGradSchool. This $1,500 award will go toward my ongoing research project on social studies teachers. I can’t thank my advisor enough for writing such a wonderful letter of support!
