Films 2026 75. Mission Impossible Final Reckoning (2025) Rewatch of this great action film. Problem is on a rewatch you spot the plot holes or rather the co-incidences. And why all the need for ret-cons and flashbacks? The action still holds up. I do hope its not the final one. 8/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 74. Van Helsing (2004) What could have been a great franchise for Hugh Jack man and the writer/director of the Mummy films turned out to be a miss. Why? With Dracula, his brides, Frankenstein, Werewolves and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde its too much. That and some silly action. 7/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 73. Normal (2025) Bob Odenkirk follows up his suprise action star status from Nobody in to this film about a standing sheriff in a town called Nobody. A simple bank robbery unearths a conspiracy resulting in lots of fun and inventive action. Top notch stuff 9/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 72. Mortal Kombat (2021) Decent martial arts action film about failed ambitions, family heritage and stolen valor. Then crams itself into a video game adaptation. Like someone took a action film script and then slammed on the game title afterwards. Great action though 7/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 71. Masters Of The Universe (1986) Skeletor has won and captured Castle Greyskull. He-Man has escaped to the planet Earth. He trises to find a way back and defeat Skeletor. So same story as the 2026 version, but lacking the budget. Fun in places, silly in others 5/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 70. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) After everyone has forgotton Peter we are in for a melancholy broken Spider-man, living only to be Spider-man. Which begs lots of questions - such as funding? Hard to review without being spoilers. Fun in places, great action scenes. 8/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 69. The Abyss (1989) This is the Special edition. Had to buy an import (not avail in UK) as Cameron won't allow the BBFC cuts due to cruelty to a rat. Not bothered about the cruelty inflicted on the cast though! Great stuff..slows down at the end where it becomes too preachy 9/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 68. Avengers Age Of Ultron (2015) After an excellent 1st film we get a bloated mess, where we have an action sequence too many. More heroes, more battles, more bad guys. More of the same isnt always a good thing. Standout scenes are the birth of Vision and Iron Man VS Hulk 6/10 #filmsky

Films 2026 67. Mission Cross (2025) Korean action comedy of the old trope of spouse has hidden past as spy/assassin/hero. The spin is the wife is a action hero police officer and husband is timid house husband with hidden past. Funny in places, great action and supporting characters 10/10 #filmsky

Films 2026 66. Hacksaw Ridge (2016) Story of religious convictions and strength of faith. Andrew Garfield joins the army as a medic but refuses to carry a gun. After a trial he is sent into battle where he save 30+. Film of two half's.. tries to 'have its cake and eat it' Well made. 10/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 65. Avengers (2012) This managed to do the impossible - give each of its 6 characters a quick intro, give them each something substantial to do and tell a great story. Been a long while since I saw it and it stands up with anything marvel have done since. Very enjoyable 10/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 64. Blackberry (2023) Great drama telling the story of the creation of the no.1 selling mobile phone. And how pride, stock manipulation and the iPhone killed the company. Terrific performances all round telling a story I was completely unaware about. 8/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 63. Top Secret!(1984) The guys that made Airplane spoof spy and Elvis films. And do a great job of that but whats more amazing is this was Val Kilmer's first film! He's brilliant and shows what a great star he would be. The swedish bookshop scene is perfection. 10/10 #filmsky
Books 2026. 29. Paul Of Dune by Brian Herbery and Kevin J Anderson, 2008. Book of two halves. One half is a prequel to Dune as we see how a 12yr old Paul deals with a war of assassins on Caladan. 2nd half is set 4/5yrs after Paul becomes Emporer. Good in places, a drag in others. 6/10 #booksky
Films 2026 62. The Odessey (2026) 'Sequel' to the Troy but instead of Sean Bean we get Matt Damon as the doomed hero struggling to get home. Chris Nolan goes EPIC as never before in this highly literat yet thrilling action film. Great acting all round. 10/10 #filmsky

Films 2026 61. Disclosure Day (2026) Spielberg does an update of Alien invasion as evidence is stolen from the goverment. A chase is on to stop it being released. Sub-par Spielberg has some good scenes but no showstopper scenes, which we come to expect from Spielberg. 7/10 #filmsky
Films 2026 60. Minions And Monsters (2026) This time the Minions goto Hollwood and are big stars in the roaring 20s. Spoofing filmmaking its great stuff. Then the monsters appear. Drops a notch. There's a deaf Minion which I thought wrongly would lead to a story point. Brilliant stuff. 9/10 #filmsky

Films 2026 59. Bullet Train Explosion (2025) Sequel to The Bullet Train (1975) and not the Brad Pitt film. A bomb on the train will go off should it drop below 100km/hr. So far so 'Speed' But the police are not the heroes it's the railway workers. Pretty good. 7/10 #filmsky
Books 2026. 27. Killer's Choice by Ed McBain, 1957. A woman is hot in a bar and a new detective joins the 87th Precinct. The officers of the 87th Precinct have their work cut out for them. Whilst it is gripping its not as good as the other books. 7/10 #booksky
Films 2026 58. Ready or Not 3 Here I Come (2026) Suffers from John Wick syndrome. Sequel tries to build up the mythos/world building that only was a small part of the 1st film. Several rich families have to compete to kill the survivor from the 1st film. Very good. 8/10 #filmsky
