Worried I might get lost, this Clark's nutcracker led the way to the fire lookout tower I was hiking to today. He stayed about 5 trees ahead of me for at least 1/4 mile. 🪶

I have mixed emotions. On one hand, it’s 88° F at 2:00 p.m. instead of the 101° they were calling for today. On the other hand, wildfire smoke is responsible for the cooler temperature due to blocking the sun. 😩
RFK Jr and wife had a soiree at their Hollywood mansion during COVID and required proof of COVID vaccination with RSVP. Watch what they do, not what they say. –Rachel Maddow
We went on an adventure this morning to look for a smooth green snake (Opheodrys vernalis) for my husband to photograph. We didn't have any luck with that species, but we did find several wandering garter snakes (Thamnophis elegans) and got to enjoy some beautiful scenery west of Boulder, Colorado.
BUSTED: Republican Mike Collins — who is running against Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia — was just confronted by reporters over having a confirmed white nationalist who regularly posted neo-Nazi propaganda on his campaign's payroll. Share far and wide! substack.com/@rawstory/no...

WTF GOP? When Biden was president this can of coffee cost about $16 US.
I took my dad out to lunch the other day and always enjoy driving past this horse ranch on the way to his house.
This morning we got up at 5:30 a.m. to go hiking before it got hot. Even at 6,500 feet it was 68° F by the time we reached the trailhead at 6:30. Way too hot for this Colorado gal. But deep in the canyon we were sheltered from the blazing sun. And we were back home eating breakfast by 9:30.
#robinwilliams I share a first name with actor Robin Williams. Every time I type my name on my iPhone, predictive text suggests "Williams" as the next word. Every time. Even 12 years after his death it's still charming to see his name pop up on my phone. Happy birthday, Robin.
My husband's phone is on the wireless charger on his nightstand and it's all lit up and keeping me awake and I don't know how to put it to sleep because it's a damn android. 🤣
If there's a better way to spend a Thursday than beside a mountain stream with two old dogs, I've certainly never heard of it.
You folks decide whatever you want on Daylight Savings Time. It doesn't matter to me because I threw my watch away when I retired. ⏰🌞🌒
The black-footed ferret is North America's most endangered mammal. Once declared extinct, their wild population has been rebuilt to roughly 400 individuals through captive breeding & reintroduction. This one was found near the captive breeding facility in Northern Colorado. #wildlife #conservation
EVERYONE LOOK!! A few weeks ago I caught a piece of cottonwood fluff out of the air and planted it. Now look!
On the way to a geocache I never found. A T4 rating in the Rocky Mountains is getting to be too much for this nearly 60 year old. But it was still a great hike. #geocaching #outdoors
I usually tolerate the illegal fireworks in our neighborhood because they’re always going to be there. But last night they caused me so much rage for what they represent this year. Anyway, I didn’t sleep a wink last night and it’s currently 96°F, with several long, broiling hours until bedtime. 🛏️💤😴

This time last year we were getting ready to leave for Madagascar. This 400-year-old baobab tree was one of many highlights.
Some hungry Northern flicker chicks and their hard-working dad. Colorado. 🪶
It appears I'm going well in my retirement career as a farmer.
Motorcyclists beware: If I'm ever elected president, there WILL be a noise tax. That is all.
I accidentally dropped my iPhone IN A RIVER today. It was completely submerged for about 5 seconds, but it STILL WORKS. It even charged with no problems. Not that I’m complaining, but how is this even possible?
We had a wonderful thunderstorm earlier this evening, then Mother Nature topped it off with this glorious sunset.
My first time growing garlic. If I had known how well they’d do I would have planted more. 🧄
