Game dev. Making a REALLY GOOD Zelda 1-like

people say Kafei and Anju are the standout side characters of Majora, but the more i think, its Cremia and Romani that standout the most to me. everything about them is pitch perfect. an encapsulation of the innocence/trust of childhood and the burdens of being an adult.

mfs on youtube will see the most boring room of all time where you use a torch on a sconce to get a key and then wax philosophically for twenty minutes about how its genius tutorialization that elegantly teaches you that "actions have consequences and keys open doors"

we will soon enter a generation of "artists" who cant answer the questions "how did you get that idea?" "what inspired you to make this?" because the answer will be "i asked Grok to generate 4 epic fire demons and i thought no2 looked cool so i copied it"

i do find it tragic how many Souls fans just dont engage with its unique multiplayer, seeing it as both a frustration & a cheatcode. makes me wish these games were more obviously unfair & obtuse, if only to push people to seeing that as the normative experience the devs intended

An open world *actual RPG* KCD2 losing "best RPG" to a turn based linear narrative with no roleplaying mechanics is why I will always prefer genre names like 'metroidvania' or 'souls-like' with an actual coherent tether/reference to mechanical ideas built in over "RPG" "search action"

worthless Prime 4 spoilers: . . . i really really hate the self sacrifice scenes with the companions, they make me feel nothing and make samus seem indifferent and pathetic. why isnt Samus Aran, famously powerful cool bountyhunter, not risking her life to save these soldiers

i actually care very little about games being 70-80-90 dollars. everyone indie and AAA are just charging what we think we can get away with to keep doing this. if you cant afford that you can get it second hand or borrow from a friend or do a secret third thing i cant think of rn
