I hadn’t seen this polling before and it does explain an awful lot. 34% of labours support voted mainly to “get rid of Tories”. That’s not a base you can rely on. That’s a group that will turn fast.

It was not an enthusiastic victory for Labour. Getting rid of the Tories was the top reason people voted for them in 2024, though with their message of 'Change' also resonating.
