I started playing some work-league softball and made a fielding gaff at CF, which inspired me to write this fun piece perthirtysix.com/how-the-heck... Pretty cool how much literature is out there on this, starting with Vannevar Bush all the way to cameras on dogs catching frisbees

How The Heck Do You Catch A Fly Ball? (An Interactive Exploration)

An interactive exploration of how outfielders (and dogs) catch fly balls: the gaze heuristic, optical acceleration, and why a ball hit directly at you is the hardest one in the sport to read.

Google is asleep at the wheel with their MCPs. Like what is this? I'm not doing all that Such a massive opportunity since their adwords and analytics UIs are overly complicated. Sheets + docs feels like table stakes now. Opportunity afoot

What are the Hornets doing? Why do you own a basketball team if you're going to sell out when your fans are finally interested again

I had Claude whip together Helmet Recolor Studio to make some new pixel-art helmets for NFL 17-0 Oddly meditative. Color by the numbers for the football fans 😆

The Seahawks absurd back-to-back-to-back draft classes from 2010-2012 2010 (ranked #11 out of 640 since 2006), 2011 (#8), and 2012 (#5) Landing Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Golden Tate, Bruce Irvin, and Russell Okung perthirtysix.com/nfl/draft/te...

The game I released 36 hours ago has been played more than 50,000 times. It's called "NFL 17-0". The premise is simple, based on NBA 82-0, where you try to assemble a perfect roster. These are the game-design decisions I think make all the difference:

Across every NFL trade since 2006, the trade-down side wins the best-player comparison 45% of the time, the trade-up side 35%. It seems like Buffalo cracked this code. The Bills did three first-round trade-backs in 2026 (26→28→31→35) picking up two extra fourth-rounders and moving up in the 3rd.

The 12 best NFL draft classes in the last 20 years: The Seahawks 2010 (#11), 2011 (#8), and 2012 (#5) drafts were insane. Landing Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Golden Tate, and Russell Okung. Transforming them from mediocre to a juggernaut in the NFC

I built an interactive guide on how Shazam (the music identification app) works! This is the next installment in my newly coined "How The Heck?" series, where we explore everyday tech that can feel like magic (QR Codes, GPS, and now this one). Hope you enjoy it! perthirtysix.com/how-the-heck...
