One thing I really enjoyed about Xenoblade Chronicles is how Dunban has the constant "dead man walking" red flags above his head: former war hero, carries a long-lasting injury from his last battle, is a kinda mentor figure to Shulk, has familiar ties with Fiora... But he defies the flags and lives!
