Did you know that ferric carboxymaltose can cause hypophosphatemia? In the DeFicit trial we evaluated if this could be mitigated by oral phosphate supplementation. #PatientBloodManagement

The DeFicit #RCT found that oral phosphate supplementation for 30 days after ferric carboxymaltose administration did not affect mean lowest phosphate levels, but reduced the incidence of hypophosphatemia. @roesslermd.bsky.social et al. #PBM #MedSky #AnSky 🔗 doi.org/10.1016/j.jclinane.2024.111727

Could Aspirin also be promising for MINS? POISE-2 would say no, but what about in a cohort of patients with confirmed MINS?

#Sepsis induced myocardial injury (SIMI) has a high mortality rate, and effective treatment strategies are limited. This analysis of the MIMIC-IV database reported that aspirin use was associated with reduced mortality in patients with SIMI. #MedSky #AnSky 🔗 doi.org/10.1016/j.jclinane.2024.111597
