My dr referred me to a practice & said they’ll call you to schedule. 3 days later, the “referral team” called to ask which location I preferred & said they’d call me to schedule. 1 week later & they never called so I called them How is this process better than me just calling the day I saw my dr?

Almost replied to someone being argumentative and snarky, but I backed off and muted them instead. Please clap. Seriously, the mute/block strategy is much better than engaging with someone whose main goal is to snark and insult their way to supposed superiority.

I treated myself to a nice project/travel bag, I freaking love this thing. I have 3 projects (equivalent to 1600 yards of fingering weight), half-letter notebooks, reading/knitting light, and a small tool pouch in it right now … I can overpack projects for a trip with none the wiser 😂 #knitting 🧶

I watched one of those animated AI ads on YouTube, the type with a folksy/country-ish song, to see how long they run. The one I watched started with “I slept with a Jewish billionaire’s wife” and sold (I am not joking) aged garlic. 7 min 38 sec. And that’s why we need more AI data centers #AISlop

Remembering Sister Rosetta Tharpe, born in 1915 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. Here she's performing "Didn't It Rain" at a train depot in Manchester, England in 1964. She's often called the "Godmother of Rock & Roll" and influenced future music icons like Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Elvis Presley.

Progress pic for one of the summer projects. It’s not long enough yet 🙂. I’ll probably work until I’ve introduced a new ball of each color, then into hibernation it goes. I’m switching the foreground/background colors every pattern repeat (a repeat is 40 rows, and I’ve done ten repeats). #knitting 🧶

A colorful unfinished rectangular knit shawl is displayed on a chaise lounge. It is almost 4 feet long and about 20 inches wide.

I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Computer scientist Margaret Hamilton coined the term “software engineer.” She directed the Software Engineering Division at MIT’s Instrumentation Lab & led development of the on-board flight software for NASA’s Apollo Guidance Computer. She was born #OTD in 1936 & turns 90 today! #WomenInSTEM

Two side-by-side black-and-white photographs of pioneering computer scientist Margaret Hamilton (born August 17, 1936). The left panel features a mature, close-up portrait where Hamilton gazes directly at the viewer with a serene, confident, and reflective expression, framed by her long, dark, slightly silvering hair. The right panel is a famous archival photograph showing a younger Hamilton standing indoors next to a towering stack of bound paper binders containing the Apollo Guidance Computer source code, which she led the development of at MIT. She is smiling broadly and wears a striped, long-sleeved mini dress with dark Mary Jane shoes and glasses, resting her hand proudly on top of the massive column of printed code. The overall composition contrasts her youthful triumph with her enduring legacy, capturing an optimistic, intellectually rigorous mood that highlights her monumental contributions to space exploration.

I dislike the term warfighter. There‘s an inherent redundancy to it; if they’re fighting, we know it’s going to be in a war. It just sounds rather … juvenile. But it seemed to be a self-fulfilling prophecy - if you call them warfighters, then they need a war to fight to justify their existence.

"This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself." - Chief Seattle

If we go to permanent DST in winter, I suspect that after a prolonged and annoying period, businesses will open later because people will run errands in daylight & schools will delay their start for safety reasons; workplaces will shift hours to fit in. We’ll functionally be in standard time.

Scientists and medical professionals have done the research: permanent standard time is healthier and safer than permanent daylight savings time.
