Physical Audio's synths (using physical modeling of springs, plates, bars etc., + granular in Tetrad) sound fantastic. They can be tricky to keep sounding "musical", but then, if you do want to go atonal, they can all produce some fantastic (and very organic sounding) clangs, crashes and sproings.

This is a superb synth - must be one of THE best synth plugins around. Wonderfully flexible - just add whatever oscillators (many types), LFOS, envelopes, FX, etc you want, and connect as required. Can be a bit daunting, but when you get your head round it, it is incredible!

Aparillo is a bonkers FM synth. Only 2 operators per voice, but the default is to stack its 16 independant voices into one mighty multi-timbral (albeit monophonic) sound. It also has the Orbiter to create ever-evolving modulations. The tutorial videos are very good (and pretty essential).
