I know this may look odd but we installed some solar lights to the entrance of the vegetable garden. To me it looks rather cool.

Retired and enjoy working in the garden, and doing alot of walking and just enjoying life. Interested in many things, particularly antiques, art, homes, dogs, plants and getting to know people who share the same interests.
From the back of our property. My plan for the future is to convert more of the open grass area into viable garden space. A daunting task considering I'am over 70. May have to enlist help on a regular basis. But I believe it will be worth it.
Cosmos still doing very well here in spite of the wet weather.
The Blueberry bushes are the first to show their fall colours in the garden this year.
The invasion of the stink bugs! That time of year when the temperatures drop and they all try to come inside. Fortunately very few make it!
This is the third season of growing this Chrysanthemum. It is huge too at about 3 feet across! Up here in the Northeast, they always say these plants are annuals, but with the proper care and protection during the winter after blooming they survive quite well and become really nice perennials.
First day of Fall. Seneca lake being nice and calm.
New planting of lettuce for the fall. These should be ready to start eating in about three weeks to a month depending on if the weather co-operates.
The Zinnias just keep on providing enough to have great bunches of them in vases.
Starting to harvest the butternut squash for the winter time. There is about 10 in this bushel basket and I still have several out in the garden that haven't quite gotten yellow enough to pick.
I usually have a dozen or so sunflowers self seed in the garden every year, but this year I only allowed about 5 to grow and do their things for the birds. This is one of them at about 10 to 11 feet tall.
Splurged on myself today and bought this. I nice Gloxinia called brocade mix. I really like the colour.
Summer / fall vignette doing great in the shade garden.
A few very large cabbages, the metal bowl is big at about 20 inches across.
Fall is starting to appear, slowly but surely.
The beginning of September is a great time to plant new lettuce to enjoy in the early fall as the temperatures are not as hot and dry.
One of the few bushes that really does bring the butterflies around.
This may not look very appealing but this is a gallon size zip-loc bag of Zinnia seeds. My 80 foot long Zinnia bed is starting to seed itself and I want to collect as much as possible. I think I will probably get at least 8 or 9 more bags just like this!
Lots and lots of these visitors this summer, they love the Zinnias.
Woodland Sunflower, "Helianthus strumosus" a native of the Northeastern part of the United States. This particular sunflower like shade to partial shade to grow best. I came across this little beauty while doing my walk in a state park near us.
Petunias are just one of my many favourite plants. They never disappoint!
