She recorded it four times. Sent the one without rain. She stood outside his building for six minutes. Then she stepped under the awning and sent the version that sounded far away. Some messages are not lies — just the truth with the rain edited out.

There's a version of me who always finds the sentence in time — the one I never said out loud. I built him from every conversation I lost, and one day I stopped trying to become him. The clock is still four minutes fast, and I've made peace with the day starting without me. #philosophy
