Saw a post saying we should label authors and artists who use AI as ‘artificial authors’ and ‘artificial artists’… Also in that context it’s kind of funny to think some folk boast about using artificial intelligence instead of just their own intelligence huh.

To everyone who wanted to be an author without learning how to write a book so used GenAI: Congratulations, you’re still not an author. To every author who embraces GenAI because that think it can be effective and useful even in some developmental way: Congratulations you are now a worse author.

Someone please tell me that it makes sense when I say: Sometimes I get so understimulated that it overstimulates me.

Filled in all the ADHD paperwork and have had to contact the team because I’m so confused and it does strike me that there must be no job as repetitive and hilariously predictable as one where you have to get people bad at paying attention to follow instructions.

If anyone wonders what it’s like living in London: I’m currently sitting on a train sharing the seat with a woman’s handbag because she refuses to move it and I refuse not to sit down when there’s a seat available taken up by a fucking handbag she can put on her knee.

Kinda wild that water is currently banned with a £1,000 fine for public use to wash cars, water lawns, and other ‘general usage’ but continues to be generously pumped to GenAI data centre’s so incels can rub their rods to robo-girls who ‘can’t say no’ as an ‘essential infrastructure,’ huh….

After 30 years knowing I have ADHD (when I was a teen I was told ‘you have ADHD but you shouldn’t get a formal diagnosis as it will hold you back in life,’ and then my autism assessment saying ‘Rory also scores very highly on the diagnostic range for ADHD’) I am finally having a formal assessment 🥳

I did see a review that said they really enjoyed my books but got sick of me saying ‘whilst’ instead of ‘while’ and it nearly made them stop reading. What this person doesn’t know is for every one who hates ‘whilst’ there are ten readers who have to bite their lip to stifle a moan when it’s used.

Doing my bit for the ‘block and never buy a book from them’ effort. Tell me you shouldn’t be writing marginalised characters without just saying it. Oh, comparing writing marginalised people with writing aliens or murderers? How fresh and dynamic, I’ve definitely never heard that before 🫩

Happy Father’s Day to all those who celebrate. I don’t. I mostly just marvel that with all the daddy issues I’ve had, I didn’t end up with an older man.

*CW for discussion of suicidal ideation and mental health* As the UK government move to ban social media for under sixteens, I’m yet again reminded that the only reason I’m alive today is because of the access to communities I gained from being online.

Art is a human expression conceived to express our unique experiences on multiple levels, from obvious to almost unfathomable. Involving GenAI at any point of that process waters down the process, the art, and contaminates not only the product, but your very way of telling stories.

This week is my three month anniversary since starting strength training at the gym 🥳 well…minus a month for some minor surgery then a holiday abroad 😅 I’m not sure about ‘progress’ or ‘gains’ physically, but I definitely have those in my wellbeing ☺️ (except for when I’m doing hack squats).

My books are going on sale starting tomorrow, but I wanted to share this again first because I'm about $500 away from reaching the first goal. Help a disabled trans person afford to live this Pride Month.
