F1 is navigating a political hurdle that is entirely out of its control in the Middle East, but it's not the first time a season has faced disruptions. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that it is capable of developing contingencies at short notice. #F1 sector.world/2026/08/why-...

Why F1’s revenue driver will survive Middle East calendar adjustments | Sector

From moving 1,400 tonnes of freight to juggling broadcast contracts, Middle East cancellations are a massive operational headache - yet F1’s shift away from hosting fee reliance keeps it steady.

A very nasty crash in the WRC at Finland for rally leader Ogier during SS17. He had a massive off towards the end of the stage; left the road at high speed and rolled into the trees. TV stream cut and stage red flagged. Toyota says both him and his co-driver are out of the car and ok. #WRC

Update from Toyota: "Update: Both driver and co-driver were able to get out of the car unassisted. They are both conscious and generally OK, and will be transported to hospital for further checks."

Remember when F1 TV broadcasts in 2011 had simple battery graphics? It was a very clear and concise way of presenting an important bit of context to the racing because it mimicked what we see every day on our smartphones. Unsure what Domenicali is getting at with his latest comments. #F1

Mercedes confirms F1 driver talent scout Gwen Lagrue, who was involved in signing Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, is leaving the team. Toto Wolff: "Thank you, Gwen. It's been a great ride together. We have built a true successor to the original Mercedes-Benz junior team." #F1

Mercedes via Instagram: "Thank you Gwen. It's been a great ride. Together, we've developed many young drivers, including our current drivers George and Kimi, and you've made a fantastic contribution.

"We have built a true successor to the original Mercedes-Benz junior and you leave in place a talented group to carry on this work.

"Professional relationships may come to an end, but we will always be friends, with a shared mindset

"We wish you well for your next challenge."

No points for Aston Martin, but a clear step forward with their upgrades. Newey: "That performance was in line with our data predictions, showing good correlation between our updated simulation tools and the track. This is a strong indication we are on the right development path." #F1 #HungarianGP

There will be 16 weeks of #F1 races after the summer break. Four of those will be non-race weekends. Between the end of September and the beginning of November, there is only one weekend without a race with the addition of Sepang. Going to be an intense end to the season. #HungarianGP

Verstappen is questioning how he got P2; well, he was helped a bit by his rivals fumbling. Hadjar's radio gives a bit more insight into that race for Red Bull: "The car was undrivable. In the high speed, I was so scared. Downshifts need to be fixed. Pace on the medium was nowhere." #F1 #HungarianGP
