Revealing confusion here. Social care is a lottery - you might need a lot, you might keel over. People don't self-insure because you might keel over. People want to pass on wealth to their children, but the current model punishes inheritance for the children of parents who need a lot. 1/
As with Sunak’s BBC Political Thinking podcast where he said elderly care costs should not be socialised, the question for Blair is this: so healthcare costs will rise; social care costs will rise. “More involvement for the private sector” doesn’t tell us where the money’s coming from.
