Betty Hester was a well known correspondent with author Flannery O'Connor. 🦚 At 25, Hester joined the US Air Force in 1948, but was "undesirably" discharged 5 years later because she was a lesbian. One of the classes that visited us this Spring was Dr. Meredith Schwieg's MUS 200, an introductory course in the music department. 🎵 Students were able to touch and read through rare book materials like "Chansonnier de Jean de Montchenu" & "Las cantigas de Santa María".

Dr. Cynthia Blakely's IDS 385 course asks students to explore how memories create the foundation of who we understand ourselves to be. At Rose, the students viewed different archival items, including the Juanita Richardson papers, Chanccani quipu, and the artist book "Alterations and Adjustments".

Rose staff recently braved Atlanta traffic for a field trip to Georgia State University's Archives! 🐈‍⬛ We learned how their staff navigate archival storage sites, checked out their public spaces, & went behind the scenes into the locked stacks.
