A little while back the team decided on a bird for Breezepelt: the stellar jay! We figured it would be a perfect parallel to Jayfeather's jay bird, and a nod to the fact that they're related, as are the two corvids! This led to some spontaneous yet beautiful concept art by our character designers!

And last but not least, there is this sprite sheet lurking in the data/exploration_bin directory, pixeline_walk_16color. It has a few of Pixeline's overworld sprites along with HUD images, which I think are lifted directly from the GBA version of Pixeline i Pixieland.

A step-by-step look at some stunning clouds from a pitch by our background director @waiako.bsky.social!

A step-by-step guide on how to draw clouds in this presented style pitch. There are four steps, each with notes.

Step one says: "Refine edges at step 4!
Base shape with the lasso tool.
Vary bubble sizes.
NEVER use pure white & avoid pure grays
base color can either be the shading's base color or light base color (in this example, the base color of my cloud is based on the shaded colors. I'm gonna define lighted areas at step 2."

Step two says: "Define your main lights & shaded areas.
NEVER use pure white!
Big chunks or light is better than several little spots here & there.
Find balance between the amount of light & shading.
You shall use A LOT of references!!
Work on the volume of your cloud before working on the next step. No amount of sparkles and glow will save your cloud if the volume looks off."

Step three says: "Add details to your lights & shadows.
Use reflective light on the bottom on your cloud.
Play around with hues! A monochrome cloud is a boring cloud."

Step four says: "Cut edges here & there (careful not too much).
Use a textured smudge tool to blur the cloud's edges a little (Towards the same direction or your cloud will look like a dandelion).
Add a layer on top (overlay) and add a big chunk of light with a airbrush.
Add a layer behind everything and trace the cloud's edges with a smaller airbrush (Avoid pure white in most cases. Play with more saturated colors)."
