With the chaos of deadline day in full force, the first-place Astros have been quiet to this point. Still think a match with the Rockies (Moniak? McCarthy?) would make a lot of sense.
The year is 2050. Manager Miguel Rojas has the Dodgers in position to win their 27th straight World Series championship. Kaj Betts is tracking toward MVP honors. They acquire C Ben Rortvedt at the deadline.
The Red Sox, who have won 28 of their last 33 games, swept the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. A couple months from now, I'm sure that is what we will all remember from this weekend.

Thirty miles from Dodger Stadium, the Brewers are in Anaheim. I asked Sal Frelick for his Tarik Skubal trade reaction. He was neither surprised nor upset, but acknowledged some disappointment after feeling like the Brewers were actually going for the deadline prize this time:

Initial reaction: a little bit stunned the Dodgers were able to hold onto all of Wrobleski, Sheehan, De Paula, Sirota and Quintero without another team coming over the top. And I can tell you I am not alone.

Snell said both shoulder/elbow feel great. He thinks the elbow loose bodies were bothering a nerve, b/c he was also dealing with numbness in his fingers that went away after the elbow procedure. "They took (the chips) out, and I could feel my hand completely, my shoulder pain went completely away."
