I listen to a number of anti-Trump podcasters & I agree with them totally, but sometimes it’s soothing to listen to the litany of facts and stats on the Military Channel as they lay out whatsup on the Ukraine-Russia war.

I’m annoyed that Elon stole the Grok catchphrase from Robert Heinlein. I can kinda see why given Heinlein’s mossback ideology. Still, I don’t think Heinlein wd be happy about it.
Though he’s much less innocent, Josh Hawley looks like a teenaged dweeb lately escaped from Archie comics into our reality…
Trump’s anti-immigration policy is a not too well concealed form of ethnic cleansing. He would really like to include native-born black people too, but the PR lift wd be just too heavy.
Trump’s agenda?, Trump’s policies?, Trump’s foreign policy? Whut? All just a succession of often self-contradictory iron whims—the main throughlines of which are greed, racism and xenophobia.
Hearing of people ranting about the “far left,” on one level, is amusing. There is no “far left” to speak of in this country—certainly not in the Democratic party. AOC and Bernie Sanders are merely more thorough-going and consistent New Deal Democrats.
Maybe people are rightly tired of the high-falutin’ language of diplomacy, but all this takk of “deal-making”—it’s like we’re in bad noir movie about mob bosses in conflict. Yeah, well too close to real. But since people are dying, a little more dignity in language would be nice…
I don’t know if there’s an actual return of the retro hippie chic granny dress thing, but I’ve seen a few. Might be a grim forecast for the stock market. Not that I know anything, but I’m puzzled the market is doing as well as it is
Why does Todd Blanche even *want* to be AG of the US? Wd it help him with a future political career? Or even land a cushy lobbyist job post-Trump? I have trouble even imagining it.
Prez making up shit again. What a horrible, callous piece of shit.
Trump on fallen US troops: "All of them said very strongly, 'We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.'"
Politics aside, it’s also a bit ick…(referring to the sculpture of Charlie Kirk whose creator is having trouble selling it)
A democratic socialist elected official at whatever level can actually do very little to implement socialism as an individual. They must govern respomsibly and wisely within the limits of their authority. That will go some way toward building the mass support needed for socialist implementation.
Angus: We have these MAGA politicians basically threatening they’re going to come over the border if we don’t fix the climate catastrophe. We’ve always crossed the border to help each other. We’re mourning the loss of a Canadian firefighter who died in Colorado, helping put out an American fire.
If Trump attempts to seize control of the midterms by means of the military or how so ever he might, we will be in general strike and “color revolution” territory.
Trump wants to replace the columns on the White House (I think they’re the simple “Ionian” style) with the rather frou-frou-ish Corinthian style. Perhaps we should be glad he’s not tearing it all down and replacing it with a glitzy thing such as found on the Las Vegas Strip. Perish the thought.
I git all emotional listening to flash mob performances of music—across most genres—in a way I don’t merely listening to audio recordings. Is that just me?

So. If Alito quits the SC, will Trump appoint Eileen Cannon? And if he does, wd the Senate confirm? Idk, but somehow I doubt Trump will appoint her, all other things being equal. Generally, I think he avoids appointing women to the more high profile positions.
“Trump panics…” I wish my favorite podcasters would quit posting such phrases. I know that’s what they are inferring, but one never sees or hears any direct examples of that. Rage and denial seem to be his more characteristic responses. We do see evidence of that.
Will we see Trump order one or more divisions of the military to attend his “state fair” July 4th celebration, ostensibly as a “treat?”
Will Trump veto the housing bill? Interestingly, I’ve seen it argued that Trump, as a supposed real estate mogul, *likes* high housing costs. Idk. He sure as shit doesn’t care about Americans financial problems and little about GOP electoral prospects.
Trump likely won’t see the inside of a cell. However, the stress of the threat to his fortune and that of his family might contribute to an earlier death than otherwise portended. Of course, he might cheat all of it by being shuffled off to some high security institution b/c out of his fucking mind…
@philosophypills.bsky.social Jo Dusty is on Threads! Really blooming as an understated dadaist(?) artist. Rene Magritte better look to his laurels.
The SCOTUS ruling giving immunity to the Prez is a poison pill for any decent Prez. It only works for a scofflaw administration that wants to do scofflaw things.
As a chronic optimist I believe some day we will have a more or less rational Secretary of Defense. Are there norms or regs that wd prohibit good officers forced into retirement being called back into service?
If SCOTUS upholds President Trump’s decision to have the federal government have equity stakes in large & significant corporations, I am curious as to what a popular Democrat President could do with that. Hasn’t been challenged as far as I know.
