Great turn out tonight for our walk on Ham Lands to hear about #ThamesWater's very destructive abstraction plans.

Tonight - free walk on Ham Lands with one of our friends from SOLAR to visit the sites that will be impacted by #ThamesWater's DRA scheme. Meet by 7pm outside the Boat Shop at Teddington Lock. If you are planning to join - tell us (info@rtfoe.org.uk) or reply to this so we don't go without you.
We are in the third drought in five years. We have the National Trust and NFU - those radical types - sounding the alarm on unprecedented temperatures. But so little from any single figure in politics talking about the climate crisis.
Our friends at @friends-earth.bsky.social have this easy way to tell John Healey that you don't want #airport expansion anywhere. In the current climate allowing increased #emissions from aviation would be literally adding fuel to the fire(s): action.friendsoftheearth.uk/petition/sto....

Urgent action needed then, as we believe @andyburnham.bsky.social has other plans for Greater Manchester!
Thanks to @flightfreeuk.bsky.social for calculating it would take a forest the size of Greater Manchester to compensate for all the flights we take each year. There simply isn't enough land space to account for our flight emissions. The best way to cut your carbon footprint is to go #FlightFree.

Surely these #oil companies' windfall profits should be the first place to look if the government needs to raise more tax.
Whilst the cost of living crisis continues to spiral, with food and fuel prices soaring, so do global oil and gas companies profits. Shell has today announced it's profits have more than doubled. This is obscene. www.reuters.com/business/ene...

As this worrying article points out, river levels, including the #Thames are very low. With #ClimateChange this is likely to worsen in future. Another reason to oppose #ThamesWater's destructive DRA scheme www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... saveourlandsandriver.org.uk

With over 35,000 wildfires burning globally currentwildfires.com/en/ the time for a "transition" was 10-20 years ago. If we don't want this (and worse) to be the new normal, we need to stop #FossilFuels urgently, even if that means some short term chaos. The alternative would be worse.

This great report neweconomics.org/2026/07/the-... from respected think tank @neweconomics.bsky.social shows even the #DfT's own numbers don't support the case for #Heathrow expansion. It's worth a read before you respond to the government's current consultation. #Don'tGrowHeathrow #No3rdRunway

A step in the right direction at last from the Daily Torygraph. But no doubt they will do what the #BBC does and keep any #climate comment ring fenced whilst the rest of their news coverage carries on as if nothing had changed.
++BREAKING++ The Daily Telegraph has... *rubs eyes* ...published something sensible about climate change: "I’m coming to the view that the Online Right is going wrong, eschewing compassion or charm, talking itself into corners of angry irrelevance. Take climate change."
When Europe (including the UK) is burning, it's chilling that the @nebriefing.bsky.social talk on weather said this year's weather is as good as it's going to get. Why still no urgency for action from politicians? Why no public outcry? It's time to be bold. www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...

Great turn out tonight for the Community Conversation on #Heathrow, with many more residents joining online. Looking forward to an interesting evening.
We're angry that once again the #BBC Today programme allowed #Heathrow's Chief Exec to claim, unchallenged, that expansion would benefit economic growth when even the Government's own numbers show a big negative impact.
