Is there somewhere that ATProtocol is used as comments on an article? Like using the "targetUrl" field as the article online. Maybe we could even use RSS as a way to standardise the article URL.

Canada really need to make sure we are not locked into the Apple and Google mobile wallet systems. We should be able to use our credit cards and store tickets on our phone without those 2 big US corps being a requirement.
Everyone talks about digital sovereignty but what does it actually take to build a sovereign social network? @gandersocial.ca is trying to do it with Canadian identity systems and data controls. CEO @benjaminwaldman.bsky.social joins the week's Law Bytes podcast. www.michaelgeist.ca/2026/08/the-...
The Law Bytes Podcast, Episode 278: Ben Waldman on Gander Social and the Challenges of Building a Sovereign Social Network - Michael Geist
Sovereignty, whether digital sovereignty, data sovereignty, or AI sovereignty, has been the hot-button issue in Canada for months. Governments have shifted policies in hopes of addressing the issue,…

After Japan battled the Netherlands to a 2-2 draw, the Japanese fans stayed behind and cleaned up every single piece of trash from their section at Dallas Stadium after the game. You LOVE to see it 🇯🇵 #WorldCup #Football #Soccer #RG3 #Love #sports #RGIII #RobertGriffinIII #Japan #Discipline
I continue to be flabbergasted that other (non-insane) governments aren't making similar changes. The Canadian government won't shut up about how important "digital sovereignty" is, and then it pours resources into posting everything to Twitter and Facebook.
European Commission has updated its follow buttons. ✅ Mastodon and Bluesky are in; ⛔ X, Facebook, YouTube are out. (Only when you scroll all the way down, FB and YT are still there, but no longer X.) commission.europa.eu/index_en

"Europe is worse because they don't have dryers" is a wild take. Aside from the fact that they do, hanging your clothes is more efficient because you don't spend money on energy and more healthy since you are active for the 3 minutes it takes. It’s a lower GDP stat, but a higher quality of life
"Sports were created many, many years ago to represent places – this club stood for something more" Why FC Supra's #CPLsoccer debut meant something special for the builders of the sport in Quebec – and the passionate support found in the province ✨
Renewable energy is not only about climate change but also about energy security.
This article claims that Iran is receiving Bitcoin for the strait toll, but why 1 USD? Why would they still denominate in USD when they could choose whatever they wanted? Where is this information coming from? arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...
Tankers passing through Strait of Hormuz will have to pay cryptocurrency toll
Any tanker passing must reveal its cargo so Iran can determine transit fee amount.

I wonder what cryptocurrency Iran is accepting in the Strait of Hormuz? I have heard USDC and USDT (tether) but that can't be true because both of those can be frozen and blacklisted by the US government.
The new Gemma4 model seems pretty good but it is too locked down. If you ask about any subject even closely related to something it has deemed dangerous it refuses to answer. This limits it's use for me to look up some basic science related to something I am curious about.
I hope this oil and energy crisis convinces people and countries to build more solar and wind energy to make their countries more resilient to future energy crises.

DeFi Lending: Returns, Leverage, and Liquidation Risk
DeFi lending with proper governance is operationally viable, but it also faces constraints related to capital efficiency, liquidation risk, and systemic fragility within the crypto ecosystem.

Using clean energy like solar and wind will allow countries to be energy independent from the world powers that will manipulate prices for their benefit.

BREAKING!! Canada flags 51st State bullshit a real fucking insult. ‘Buy Canadian’ policy flagged by U.S. as trade irritant: report
It’s wild how two sovereign nations , Iran & China, trading a legal commodity is branded a 'shadow fleet' of 'illicit oil' just because one third party didn’t give its permission

Maybe we should just tell Trump he won so people stop dying... Or maybe that will just convince him he can keep on attacking other countries 👎
Online activism is also an area where toxic people are overrepresented So on top of the performative outrage, there is also a layer of major toxicity – something that was extremely visible Some people are just vile people and they (sadly) have an ability to make other people behave like this too

I swear some of the most extreme anti AI and anti tech posts on Bluesky are bad actors trying to hurt the network by being super toxic.
