Six-striped Rustic, new to the garden a couple of days ago. This photo was taken last night. Perhaps it's the same moth. I gave up on the one from the other day because it was being awkward. Given how prevalent this moth is in my area, I'm not sure why it took me so long to trap one. #teammoth

I like wildlife, and wildlife gardening in particular. I want to know what comes to my garden during the day and at night (moths, VC61). Amateur photographer. South-East Yorkshire, UK.
I think that this might be my first Svensson's Copper Underwing because it had dark palps with pale tips (see below ⬇️). I tried examining the underside of the hindwing, but I can't handle a moth without fear of hurting it. I was too gentle with it, and it kept wriggling out of my grasp. #teammoth
A photo of last year's Saltmarsh Plume, as the one I was about to pot this morning escaped. This appears to be happening quite frequently at the moment. Last week, an Old Lady and a Dark Spectacle got away from me. Both NFYs. #teammoth
There's often a battle of wills before any staging photography can happen. Still, I enjoy photographing an unyielding moth, so it works in my favour. #teammoth #mothmonday #macromonday #thanatosis #dramaqueenmoth
It's hard not to share a photo of a Striped Hawk-moth, probably the best moth I'll see this year, for #MothFaceFriday. I can't think of another moth surpassing it, at least. But Death's-head Hawk-moth time is coming soon. #teammoth
I was ecstatic to find a Cydia amplana NFG in the trap this morning. And, unlike many other micros, it wasn't flighty, making it easy to photograph. Only six records in Yorkshire, but I believe that number will increase this year. #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social
I'm still finding single Sallow Kittens in the trap, and I'm photographing them because there isn't much else going on. There are a lot of moths (and wasps), but little variety. #teammoth
Another shot of yesterday's Galleria mellonella. I doubt I'd find it on a tree if I didn't know it was there. #teammoth
This morning, Galleria mellonella (Wax Moth) was new for the year. When I was taking pictures of it, I had to catch it twice. It seems to prefer to run away rather than to fly. It's a quick little thing. #teammoth
There was very little of interest in the trap this morning. There were plenty of moths, but the variety was lacking. New for the year was a Wax Moth and a Cabbage Moth. #teammoth
A Frosted Orange was new to the garden this morning. I've only ever trapped one, when I was on holiday in Lincs last year, or the year before. The moth appears to be gripping a caterpillar that seems to be feeding on the Knautia stem. I don't know whose caterpillar it is. #teammoth
Another angle on yesterday's twig shot. I played around with various twig positions to see what worked best. #teammoth
A red admiral #butterfly enjoying a kiwi fruit in the garden. There are four squabbling over the fruit, batting each other with their wings. I use the fruit to attract moths at night, particularly Old Lady moths. #wildlifegarden #butterflies #bugsky #insects
Though there's no mention of a Brown China-mark in my records, I was correct in thinking this morning that I had previously trapped one. Thankfully, I just learned how to search my own posts. This one was hard to photograph, but I saw an opportunity when it turned into a pancake. #teammoth
Since I'm currently having trouble finding moths, here's a Brown China-mark for #MothMonday. Mothing is disappointing when you live in a small village surrounded by farmland and very few trees. It wasn't until the end of April last year that I began trapping a decent variety of #moths. #teammoth
The Miller was new to the garden a few days ago. I must not have noticed it on the dingy white frame of the kitchen window in the morning, but thankfully it was still there when I returned home from work hours later. I was too tired to take many photos, so I only took a record shot. #teammoth
There wasn't much excitement in the trap this morning. However, there was a Brown China-mark that I thought I had previously trapped, but it doesn't seem like I have. ObsID informed me that a worn Com. Rustic agg. was an Ear Moth, which piqued my interest until it didn't. #teammoth
I'm still working through the shots that I took of the Striped Hawk-moth. I'm a bit photo frenzy when I trap a moth that I never expected to see and think that I might never see it ever again. #teammoth
A NFG moth from a few days ago. I found this Maiden's Blush in the greenhouse after trapping in there the night before. I almost dismissed it as a blood vein, but decided it didn't look right. #teammoth
The image on the left is almost certainly my favourite shot from yesterday because it shows that the Striped Hawk-moth is more than just its stripes. I like to see #moths from different angles. #teammoth #macromonday #mothmonday
I wasn't expecting such a big result, but someone (@migrantmothuk.bsky.social) mentioned yesterday that there might be migrant #moths around, so I reluctantly trapped on a worknight. A very rare moth for VC61. It's nice to be able to finally join such a prestigious club. #teammoth
Another photo of yesterday's Humming-bird Hawk-moth. I placed it on a thin stem so that I could photograph its underside. Plus, I didn't have to touch the moth again; I just turned the stem around. And I didn't see it fly away, it was just gone. They're so quick. #teammoth
That feeling of needing to grab a takeaway container for a moth you've never trapped before! And to think, I had no intention of trapping last night, but the FOMO was too strong. #teammoth
I've been seeing Humming-bird Hawk-moths in my garden for a few weeks now, but they've outmaneuvered me at every turn. I simply don't have their agility. Nice that this one showed a little colour. Unlike other hawk-moths, this one didn't warm up before deciding to leave. #teammoth
When I got home from work, my wife tells me that there's a moth on the kitchen window that has been there all day. I half-heartedly go over to the window, and I don't recognise it. After potting it, I find out it's a Miller. It's a good feeling getting an NFG moth after a hard workday! #teammoth
Yesterday's NFY Burnished Brass. When I went outside to set up the trap last night, I found a new garden moth in the greenhouse: a Maiden's Blush. The previous evening, in addition to the trap in the garden, I had set a second one there in the hopes of attracting more moths. #teammoth
