My Astro robot took a really long nap (8 months) and then spontaneously woke up today and zoomed around the house. Problem is I've acquired two new dogs in that time, who didn't know the thing could move lol
New code smell discovered: TODOs left by agents are there because what you've asked makes no sense, not because the agent is lazy.
I have had to start wearing reading glasses to accommodate Claude Code etc. Full-screen zoomed-in vim doesn't cut it anymore.
At long last, my computer programming and pet training skills have converged.
My computer just woke me up to tell me it's hungry. I'm not kidding 😂 During a long-running task, it noticed the battery was draining, set the volume to 100% using Computer Use, then opened Google Translate and hit "Listen" so I could hear it asking. Pardon my French, but what the fuck? 🤯
tired: MCP wired: hacking other people's computers to do whatever the human asked
Coding will always be hard because you have to know what you want the computer to do.
Engineering management continuing to know what they're talking about
Engineering management after the cost of code collapsed: “Investing in machine-checkable correctness is now among the highest-leverage infrastructure work an org can fund” karimjedda.com/engineering-...
Getting 26 tok/s inference and 13k tok/s fine-tuning in *Java* with a custom LLM/SSM engine on my new DGX Spark. No idea what to do with it tho.
Starting to feel bad for my agents. Even if they aren't conscious, there is a sense of loss every time I dismiss one.
1. I don't trust AI. 2. I trust AI more than I trust others. 3. I trust AI more than I trust myself.
Not that I'm saying you shouldn't have a human review the code in general, but like... AI is way better at reviewing code than I ever have been.
No, I always type out the full package name when I reference a class. Why do you ask.
Who is accountable? I'm currently working towards a future where no one is accountable for software at all. People sign off on business requirements but not software.
Who is actually accountable when AI-generated code ships to production? @starbuxman.joshlong.com (Spring Developer Advocate) has a 1970s IBM answer that's hard to argue with, and a case for why the JVM is better positioned for the AI era than most developers think. 🎥 Watch: youtu.be/_ftzJ33mCTI

Finite Memory for Unbounded Streams · Ryanne's Blog
A two-tier KV memory for unbounded token streams — exact where it matters, merged where readers can't tell, and trained with the memory in the loop.

LLMs have turned every problem into a robotics problem: you can build anything but no one will buy it.
a friend coined the term “yasslighting” to mean “when you are stupid wrong but your bad influence friend keeps telling you the opposite out of some bizarre obligation never to question you.” Gambling websites, manosphere toxic masc trainings, many cults, and more are all built to yasslight.
They've basically yassified degenerate gamblers. "Did your wife leave you because you were placing bets on high school volleyball games? What if we told you that you weren't a pathetic, hopeless loser but actually a VISIONARY WHO COULD PREDICT THE FUTURE?"
For a split second I thought this was a picture of Kenny. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/14/u...
House Votes for Permanent Daylight Saving Time
House Republicans and Democrats united in favor of a bill to eliminate semiannual clock-changing, but it faces an uncertain fate in the Senate.

There's clearly a CoT voice and a chat voice, but if you ask Claude to write a file it won't use either. Which means it doesn't NEED to sound ridiculous all the time.
National embarrassment
President Trump called the president of FIFA in the hours after the U.S. men’s soccer team played Wednesday and asked him to review the suspension of the team’s top goal scorer in the World Cup, Folarin Balogun, after he was given a red card. Read more: nyti.ms/4vSHMTS
